திருவெம்பாவை என்பது மாணிக்கவாசகரால் சைவ சமயத்தின் முழுமுதற்கடவுளான சிவபெருமானைக் குறித்து எழுதப்பட்ட பாடல்களின் தொகுப்பாகும். இந்த திருவெம்பாவை பாடல்களுடன், திருப்பள்ளியெழுச்சி பதிகத்தின் பாடல்களையும் இணைத்து மார்கழி மாதத்தில் பாடுவதை சைவர்கள் மரபாக கொண்டுள்ளார்கள். கன்னிப் பெண்கள் மார்கழி மாதத்தில் இருக்கும் பாவை நோன்பின் ஒரு பகுதியாக இந்த பாடல்களைப் பாடுவது உள்ளது.
The Thiruvempavai are a collection of songs composed by the poet and saint, Manikkavacakar. It consists of 20 stanzas devoted to the Hindu God Shiva. It forms part of the collection called Thiruvasagam, and the 8th book of the Thirumurai, a canonical text of the Tamil Shaiva Siddhanta. The songs form part of the Pavai ritual for unmarried young girls during the Tamil month of Margazhi.

மணம் பொருந்திய கரிய கூந்தலை உடைய பெண்ணே! சிவந்த கண்களையுடைய திருமாலிடத்தும், நான்முக னிடத்தும், பிற தேவர்களிடத்தும், எங்கும் மற்றவர்களிடத்தும் இல்லாததாகிய, ஒப்பற்ற ஆனந்தம் நம்மிடத்து ஆகும்படி, நம்மைப் பெருமைப் படுத்தி, இவ்வுலகிலே நம் வீடுகள் தோறும் எழுந்தருளி வந்து, செந்தாமரை போன்ற அழகிய திருவடியைக் கொடுத்தருளு கின்ற வீரனை, அழகிய கருணை நோக்குடைய மன்னனை, அடிமை களாகிய நமக்கு அமுதம் போல்வானை, நம் தலைவனைப் புகழ்ந்து பாடி, நன்மைகள் பெருக, தாமரை மலர் நிறைந்த நீரில் குதித்து ஆடுவாயாக.
