But I wanted to talk about my experience restarting my Animal Crossing New Horizons island after playing on my original island for almost 4 years. Should you restart your island to bring back any semblance of a spark for the game?

honestly it's kinda wild to me how so many people are restarting their games now, me included.
I did a whole "finish the museum" speedrun thing before restarting my island and the constant time travelling and stuff really made me realize that's not how i want to play this game anymore going forward. i am much more chill with the game now and enjoy the peacefulness of living day to day, no pressure to perform for anyone and just doing my thing
Time traveling is cool, but I find it ruins my experience to time travel out of season. Constant time traveling does sound pretty stressful though! I'm glad you found a way to play that you enjoy!
@@pocketleavesgaming yeah i kinda did a whole time travel bonanza as like a last hurrah before deleting my old island, just to see what it's like to play the game like that (a la dagnel's museum speedruns)
i also used treasure islands in the past to get all DIYs and i just rly had nothing left so now i'm just playing the game as "intended" and it's so relaxing and nice, since my life is just stressful atm. (no shade to anyone that plays differently, we can all play however we want)
I don’t have enough courage to restart my island (and say goodbye to my mainstream smugs aka Raymond and Marshall), so I just started to play again daily and it also feels so good, same as in 2020.

What you said about terraforming I soooo agree with!!! I wanted to keep the original layout the island had, and for the most part I did, however some bits had to be adjusted
when i was gifted a switch and tried to swap over from my switch lite i wanted to sell, my island transfer didn’t work. i had lost everything, and december 2020, dropped the game until three days ago.
my friend got the game and was sending me the happiest messages about building up her island and it pulled me back in. i built my first tent with my new villagers and took a picture. looked back in my album where i saw all my old memories with friends and really felt that joy hit me again ❤ i love animal crossing man
Aww I'm sorry your island transfer didn't work. I would have been CRUSHED if I'd lost my first island that way when I upgraded from a lite to a full switch back in 2021. But I'm glad you've been able to find joy and make new happy memories with the game!

yesterday at like 3am I was like hm should I restart?
but then I decided to hunt longer for some villagers I want to move out and search for my new dreamies, well played and 1h later I found one of my dreamies out of rando at my campside 😂❤️ so nope, not deleting anything, the little Chabwick 🥰 is now mine *hehe*

I have a Switch Lite and a normal one and I will never restart the one on my main switch. But because I don’t put a ton of effort into the islands on my Lite, I’ll typically use that when I go back to the beginning. My main island will never go anywhere😂
