    😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

True, authentic Mexican food is fantastic! My first wife and I honeymooned in Mazatlan. When we weren't shoveling street food down, there was a place where you could order fresh shrimp by the kilo. The shrimp came chilled on a bed of ice with a large assortment of dipping sauces from mild to wild. And the waiters came around every 10 minutes or so with free tequila poppers. They like to get us gringos a little tipsey which results in us leaving good tips. Lol The service in Mexico is truly exceptional. One thing I like about the authentic food is it doesn't come smothered in sour cream like here in the states.

Chilaquiles are really a great breakfast, especially with salsa verde. Eggs over easy on top and a portion of carnitas on the side. I've been in Cabo a few times. Will have to check out this restaurant on our next trip. Mexican dairy products were a revelation to me the first time we went to Mexico. There is also very good sushi in Cabo San Lucas, which makes sense because it is a huge sport fishing town.

Afterwards you will miss the Mexican sauces, because they are adictive, here in Ensenada I have an English friend who eats more chili than me, and I am Mexican! Keep enjoying those amazing places!

It's just a matter of learning the sauces and telling which one is which. You guys inspired me to cook some chicken quesadillas today for dinner 😋

Tacos Al Pastor is a favorite of mine. Also flavors of helados that are often popular is Coco, Fresia and Sandia. Be careful when you order some flavors they add spicy powder or sauce called Chamoy. The kids like the Mangonadas. But this is a very learned taste, I noticed that you like many Brits don’t like spicy. I love hot sauces but this is a flavor I don’t do. Trust me. That brand of ice cream bars are found in many different grocery stores especially along the border states. Here in San Antonio they have places that their own which are fantastic and I’m sure that you can find them in California and in Arizona. Same thing with NM but it is narrow with very few towns on Interstate 10 that you have an easier time getting it in Arizona

Don’t be afraid to buy things from the old guy pushing around a cart of food and ice creams. It has been something that happens in Hispanic cultures, you don’t see it much anymore. However even here in Texas the ice cream truck is a gathering place for parents and kids

  • @RobertEchten
    @RobertEchten Před rokem +3

Oh man, I can literally taste all the different dishes you've tried and my mouth is watering. Since I find that San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas even more are very touristy, I don't go there a lot, but it does have a nice vibe. The only dish I was not quite sure of was, if I heard correctly de Taco Macho. I had that once but was not told what the Macho part actually is beforehand. After some prodding I was told that it's from the sticky bit from the bull's anatomy.... I had that in Guadalajara and hadn't seen it in Baja, but since Baja attracts a lot of people from the Mexican mainland to start restaurants, it is certainly possible. But if you enjoyed it, that's all that matter. I found it to taste quite a bit like liver and I'm not a big fan of that. Ok, I'm hungry now....
With regards to the question of why Mexican cheeses are not more famous, I think it is because all or at least most of them are being used as part of a dish. You don't really see them used as-is (like on a charcuterie board or something), like you would a Gouda, a Brie, a Cheddar (not the processed american stuff). So you never really taste a Mexican cheese by itself, but always integrated in the dish. For me, the ones I've tried by themself are either rather bland or very salty. They work in a dish, not so much as a snack.

Yes, the food looked delicious. That kebab ( doner) must be inherited from TURKIYE ( at least there is great chance).
MARIANNE 's face after that drink was so funny not the tekila but the one she was saying " I don't know why I did not have this drink until I was 55".
That is worth of seeing.😋 Guys, again a great video. Not to bring the earthquake in TURKIYE but have you ran into people in that community or media that they were talking about it? How is it seen in Mexico?
In the meantime, I was deeply saddened with the death of a rescue dog from Mexico.
I on behalf of the Turkish people thank them and thank all of the others.
British Sahara hospital, etc..many many of them. Thank you all!

Running into a Turkish guy from DIDIM selling chandeliers .. I was surprised 😯😯
I think I would not try everything since I am a picky person when it comes to food. I for sure cannot eat intestine ( kokorec in TURKIYE), monkey brain , octopus ( in KOREA OR JAPAN) especially the live ones while the creature is trying to get out of your plate..iihhh! 😥😥😥
Mussels, rats with sauces ( in HOLLAND) , Grasshopper in China or some far east countries , rooster or pig foot ( in Africa or others).
I am going to stick with my breakfast with Turkish feta, black olives, and apricot marmalade with Turkish tea definitely.

"Mexican cheese is really good!" The funny thing is that even here in Southern California, real Mexican cheese has not been a thing for most of my life. It is only relatively recently that a few of them have become more common here. Most first-generation Mexican-Americans I know (and even some Mexican immigrants) tend to use what is sold as "Mexican cheese blend," which isn't Mexican at all. It is cheddar and Monterey Jack. Note that is Monterey, as in California, not Monterrey, which is in Mexico. It is a California cheese.
I believe that the skulls on the lighted street banners relate to the way the Mexicans honor their ancestors, most notably on El Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead), when people paint their faces like skulls.

Apart from the tamale`s, none of that was actually mexican street food. We are avid travellers and have toured Mexico on motorcycles many times. Buying from street vendors in non touristy towns is what i consider street food and less than half of what you were paying. Coffee for $4.00 ????

The food looks delicious and a very colorful atmosphere, however I'm curious as to why so many skull/skeleton faces displayed throughout the city?

To celebrate the passing of the dead to the afterlife. In Mexico, they have a holiday, Dia de los Muertas, "The Day of the Dead", where they remember those loved ones who have passed on.

I have to laugh. Another channel us heading to Mexico and several oeople have commented "NO! Never go to mexico it is way too dangerous." Such a joke. The only thing you are in danger of is overeating. Haha. I told them to check out your trip.
