I love the handmade chucks to boot conversions. But converse did the aesthetic dirty with this one imo.
These handmade ones look really good, they caught me by surprise!
@@jonasholzem2909 There’s a lot of love for attention to detail and the craft. Converse just corporatized re-soling and revamping Chucks by hand in single batches.
Wish your were around before I retired. When I started in the electrical industry, I spend a fortune on work boots before finally coming across the one I purchased for the next thirty years.
what brand is that?
great vid and stoked to see the Vans boots. if it does well, would you consider doing the Adidas Terrex hikers as well, or the Under Armour ones? that would be sweet.
I have the Adidas Terrex. Regardless of whether or not he cuts one open, and regardless of his finding, I have found it to be a VERY competent, durable, and comfortable boot.
@@Pharto_Stinkus I had mine for almost a decade, I threw it away because I wanted a new pair. Adidas make a hell of a boot. They make the GSG boots for swat team in Germany.
So, it's another footwear company going out of their ordinary market and doing so in a terrible way. I guess making boots is turning into the shoe market equivalent of offering AWD or 4WD with every car.
It's the faux work wear trend that's going on right now in fast fashion, it'll blow over soon enough.
@Drew Cook I have a very old pair of Converse boots that are over 15 years old and they were the best pair of boots I've ever had. I just wish they would come back with another set like the ones I own. I'd buy three pair so I'd never be without them again.
Converse has been making boots since before Chucks. Converse made rubber galoshes before.
I'm not saying these boots aren't trash, I'm just saying that Converse has a long history of making boots.
Esspecially because there’s great awd systems and equally as shitty awd. Of course the same goes for 4wd in this case.
But all my wheels drive when i go vroom
video idea, since you've cut the jordan 1 shattered backboard in half, i think it'd be interesting to see a "fake" or replica jordan 1 shattered backboard cut in half to see the difference if any
I'd love to see that too!!
That's a great idea but he needs to buy a high quality replica.
Decent chance that the replica’s the same quality or maybe even slight better
YESSSSSSSS
Wow, didn't know about the chuck mods that are happening in Japan. Awesome to learn about it. Great video, can't wait for the Vans one!
Here in Indonesia there are also several people who do this too hehehe
Gained so much insight on boots and even sneaker brands… would love to see some dress shoes on here!
It’s amazing how well you’ve got me trained for these vids. Each one, I’m excitedly waiting for the cut score.
Would love to see you cut open a Parkhurst boot, they are similarly priced to Grant Stone but are made in USA. Would like to see what corners they cut.
I'm grateful you made this video. Was about to purchase this boot because it looks unique. Was expecting to be ok materials but I know the truth. I appreciate it.
Thanks for finally removing the laces before cutting. It always hurt a little bit every time you would cut through those brand new laces!
But he's just cutting the boot it goes to in half anyway...what would he do with all of those single, spare laces?
@@shepherdofnone6512 they will come in handy for other chucks. Better yet, with diy ideas, you can repurpose spare laces for something creative.
I was looking forward to the lace cutting.
Uggg. How pathetic. They're laces.
I definitely agree on the 8.8 cut-centered score. This was a very good job today. I am surprised how easy it is to cut through this though as I thought there's be more resistance.
Glad to hear about the Vans boots coming up! I just saw the ad on instagram and my first thought was to come here and mention them.
Great video. I love to see videos on a variety of boot and shoe types. It would be fun to see some on more zero rise boots and shoes like the Lem's you cut apart.
Hi, your presentation of the great features of the Nick's boots impelled me to order a pair of 6 inch, high arch, waffle soled Urban boots! I paid 600+ and have to wait until February 2022 for my prized Nick's, keep up the great work!!
Man you always got awesome videos thanks for sharing!!!
LMAO. I have this shoe! I got it on sale last Christmas for like $60. Not something I bought for the long term quality to be fair, I always knew it wasn’t going to be any comparison or in the same world as my actual GYW boots. Definitely looks good though. A little chunky but I enjoy it.
I love the streetwear look of these and have them in my wishlist. although I'm saddened by the quality and not sure if I will get them unless I find them on sale...Thanks so much for making this video..
Ive owned these for a lil over a year now. I love them. Super comfy and love the look and get a lot of compliments actually. Im slightly hurt that the quality is so poor though. The bottom sole is separating a tiny bit from the front but I’ll deal with that later. Btw I got them on sale. Just wait for holidays or end of season.
Can't you just put a chuck taylor label on a pair of Thursday boots???
I'm lucky that I was blessed with having an affinity for utilitarian aesthetics. LOL Good luck.
They’re on sale for $49.97 on the website
A sensible "whats in my closet" video for boots (winter/fall) might be great
I've been holding onto a pair of Converse Chuck boots...the sole is different in style. I love the upper for it but of course over time the sole separated some. I found this video looking into if I could resole the boot to keep the upper (and maybe replace any sections for comfort and resilience). Nice video, thanks! Checking out other ones to see if you have anything similar.
Just signed up for the keeps. Let's see how it goes, fingers crossed. An awesome discount as well, really hope it's worth it lol
oh man, I was just looking at these, thank you god you did a review! Just as expected! Thank you!
Can you also do the leather converse, also loooking at those *eyes*
I worked as a bartender for many years, used many shoes and the best was made by ecco, most comfortable, most durable shoes (moccasins) I ever had. Biggest disappointment was Timberland. I wold like to see review about ecco shoes please.
I'd love to see some winter boots compared and cut. This time of year I wonder about the the differences with insulated and waterproof boots. Also more Toaster.
You know, I bought some Harley-Davidson "Chuck Taylor" look alikes that have a suede leather upper for $50 from Amazon. "The Baxter" is the style name and they're made in Mexico. Very comfortable, except, of course, the lack of arch support just like Chuck Taylors. The point is, there's a possibility that they're made better than these boots, and, at $120, these boots are not priced accordingly, at least, that's my opinion.
I had my eyes on those for a while now, the Harleys. May I ask how long have you been using them(or how long do you use them in a usual day) and what activities do you do with them? Thanks
@@joshuasim8019 well, The Baxters by Harley are actually skate shoes, mainly because of the soles, nice & gummy, like Van's, DC's, etc...but, I play drums and that's what I mostly use them for. Of course, I wear them prior to and after playing, which, includes two days a week practicing and once or twice a month gigging. I used to wear wrestling shoes but their high pricing is what caused me to do some searching for another high top replacement. Love 'em!! Btw, I had to buy 1 full size bigger for a good fit, which, includes having to send the first pair back & wait for the second shipment, no biggie tho. Oh ya, the logo is cool too, it almost looks like the punisher logo!!
I'd be curious to see how the Chuck 70 Explore boots look cut in half. They look better made and even retail for $20 more. Since they are Chuck 70s I'd hope they'd continue their track record of excellence.
Great content, great videos overall. However, lol, I personally would also enjoy seeing boots being put through various environmental exposure treatments and tests to help understand how a certain work boot performs
Thanks for doing this! I’m curious about winter boots. Brands like Columbia make synthetic winter boots and I wonder what you would think? I live in Canada and it gets to -20 with lots of snow hahahaha
That is exactly what I’m looking for thank you
I love the look of this. But, if some issues were updated and fixed, this would be a nice comfortable boot.
Wow, thanks for this review and the info on this shoddy piece of footwear.
Great video! I would LOVE to see a pair of Daytons or Canada West boots cut in half. There seems to be a lack of representation for Canadian boot manufacturers here (which I understand, as you're located in the US).
Btw, the Canada West Romeos are basically gyw Blundstones! *Wink wink nudge nudge*
Hey I do the Eastland lumber up or the wolverine wedges. Appreciate you videos and info.
Damn, just bought these. So far they've been very comfortable to walk around in. Of course I'm not using them for any real work or anything. I just wear them here and there when the outfit calls for them. If I can get a couple years out of them, I'll be happy. Lol
Man...those are the funkiest looking boots since the diaper boots. Always fun watching you take down and break down stuff great video man
Stoked for the vans boot, hopefully its the gortex one.
I’m excited to see the vans boots. Those have been popping up on my advertisements lately 😅
Very nice video! ....hope to see your opinion on Camper Brutus boots
I have a pair of pine green monochrome Chuck rain boots from 3 or 4 years ago and they are pretty cool. They were only $40 from the Converse outlet.
They are just a completely rubber Chuck Taylor with wool flocking as the lining. The tongue is also fully gusseted.
So far my feet have never gotten wet while wearing them.
The only downsides are that they don't breathe and like they were not comfortable but I did put a gel insole in though and that made a huge difference.
I'm looking forward to the day we get in depth look at steel and composite toe work boots.
You should try boots from Vagabond! It's an ethical, high quality Swedish brand that I've worn for years and I think they're really good. Would be interesting to know what you think of them!
Thanks for the commercial, I'm 53 and if my hair line had changed I'd like to think I'd notice by now. But instead it looks like I'll have a full head of hair into my old age.
I have a pair of black Converse boots almost like these and they are the most comfortable things I've ever owned! Like really. I don't know how long they would hold up doing anything serious but I've had mine a year and wear them everyday and I won't buy anything else. I hope they don't stop making them.
I have the leather winterized Chuck Taylors. Goretex and fleece liners. Been wearing for 2 years. The only issues are some wear at the heel and the forefoot. Easily fixed with some Shoe Goo. But they are horrible on slick smooth surfaces, even when new. I can wear these all day with no problem. I've also walked around NYC all day in them without aching feet.
Cool video! This makes sense since converse is not a boot company. So it’s more of a sneaker that looks like a boot shoe.
I have a pair of the black ones. They're not boots, but I like the look and I got them on sale for half I think. Just hold out for the sale if you want a pair
How about reviewing some Wesco boots. They've been around the longest but don't have many reviews. Great channel!!!
Would love to see Birkenstock Bryson shoes cut in half!!! Will comment on every video to see it!! Haha
The DIY version looks really cool, can you please do a video turning regular Chucks into those DIY Japanese Converse boots?
The channel “Goods and Services” has one of those conversions
I've owned a pair of Converse Made In Maine boot before, it's a really nice boot.
Would love to see you review the Sorel metro HI. Similar style to a chuck taylor but insulated and waterproof I’ve been enjoying my pair
I found these in black at a converse outlet for 40$ definitely not for working they fell apart in 3 weeks but there r comfortable great for casual use for sure
I'd like to see the Irish setter Ashby. Great video
Man you're my favorite . Please do converse construct
Thank you for sharing. An arctic muck boot would be cool. Anyway 🙌🙌
I have an 18ish year old pair of Converse work boots and honestly they're the best pair of work boots I ever owned. They don't look anything like this pair, however.
Save them! See if a boot repair shop could restore them when the day comes because you have an awesome pair of boots.
Could you do a series of other popular dressy boots like Ecco and Johnston and Murphy to list a couple. I have worn these brands for about a decade and IMO I have felt the Ecco’s to be more comfortable than the J&Ms, but would love to see if there is a tangible reason for this. Great videos btw, been watching your videos since early 2020 and this year I finally purchased my first pair of Iron Rangers thanks to your channel. I plan to get a pair of Nicks Americana or Falcons next year.
Nice Video.. I see a lot of people wearing Skechers boots with steel toe and comp. Have you done a video about Sketchers?
Great video . Could you please cut the Red Wing Foreman Chukka? That be great Greetings from Germany
I don't even like converse, but I would probably pony up for a suede/leather pair.
My favorite cheap work boot that I wore a few pairs of were at Tractor supply. It was their house brand Schmidt 8in tall steel toe. Went on sale for 90 bucks once or twice a year. I'd get about 8months our of them on concrete/asphalt and little over a year on dirt. So comfortable, they stopped making them sadly
Would it be worthwhile doing a video on just insoles? Comparison, price, recommendations? I would definitely be interested. Love your channel and videos
I was really thinking about these till I saw this video.
These sneaker boots would be really cool if they were built better. I'm really trying to be careful these days to spend more for what will last longer. So tired of the cheap products being put out.
I'd like to see a Thorogood 1957 Series boot cut. I recently picked up the 814-3600. Would be interesting to see the difference over their other moc toe that you've done.
I would like to see in a future video the Adidas Superstar Boot version :)
Please i know you did the Superstar in the past so it could be a cool followup to that video
Can you do a video on your storage of all the chopped up shoes.? Is it just put back in the box and put on a shelf in a big closet?
hi, very informative video.
If possible, can we do a video comparison of UGG Blitmore chelsea boots vs blundstones?
Thanks
Converse just had a sale. I paid $16.32 for a pair of these.. I could tell they were cheap but dayum I got em for the right price.. I’ll probably just wear em in the rain now after seeing the make quality.
I’ve been looking at those vans! Fingers crossed over here. Not expecting the greatest but for $200 or more I could go get a pair of decent boots.
Great video! Quick question - where did you get that knife/tool used for slicing the shoes?
20 years ago I bought Converse work boot from guide gear .absolutely Best
Work boot composite toe. I have ever owned. Discontinued. Boot lasted
HVAC Tech
For the price, get the UltraBoosts on sale. I love those things.
If you can, please try to get your hands on some Adidas Superstar boots and cut those in half!
Seeing some of these videos makes me wonder how the cheap knockoffs I grew up with stack up? Like all those discount shoe chains. I almost wonder if they are made identically with the exception of all the logos and branding
Can't wait to see the Vans boot. Shame for Converse. They did a walking type boot years ago and it was awesome. Ahame they did not carry that on...
White boots just came out with the Millwood. That would make a nice review.
Would love to see a cut in half review of some Danish Duckfeet boots!
I had mine for 2 years and got alot of miles out of them .the sole was great butt had a problem with the heel the plastic broke down and had someone sharp parts after i cut them out I still wore them
please do a review of the Keen revel iv Chelsea?
I had these and after the second time wearing them I noticed they were delaminating. I returned them and luckily got my money back
There was a converse x horween leather colab, maybe you cam review those, great vide as always
Sounds like a waste of materials and time to me. Why put expensive leather top on something that can’t be resoled.
Any shoe can be resoled with enough money.
I’ve been waiting for this ever since the boots dropped, had a feeling they wouldn’t do great. Too bad, they look pretty good
You should review the sm wholesale wwii boots to see if they’re good reproductions!
Coming from someone that used chucks exclusively before buying their first pair of boots, I really liked the aesthetic of these boots. But I would never trust converse with anything that's supposed to last.
Ive had these before. They were originally priced at around 120usd, but I got it for like 30. 2-3 months have passed and the sole just came off
After watching a few Rose Anvil vids and learning about glued on soles like these Converse, I was thinking about my pair of Danner Fullbore boots that seem to be constructed in the same way as I don't see any stitching on the bottom. Had them for about a year now, feel great for long walks. but now I'm concerned about its long term durability and was about to order a second pair. Should I be concerned?
Got it for $54 on sale. Can’t complain for everyday use.
Could you do a video on Keen's Cincinnati wedge boot?
i would really love to send you my work boots one of these days to dissect, they're steel toe Solovairs, ive had em resoled once after about 1.5 years on the original sole and im determined to see em thru a local second but after all that idk i feel like it would be a nice hard use retrospective.
Think you could do the Tecovas Knox? It’s a wedge sole/cowboy boot combo
no way he taking off the laces before cutting it
Can you do a review of the NothingNew canvas shoes and compare them with Vans and Converse? Considering pulling the trigger on them as a gym shoe
Can you review the timber 6" field boot
Can you do a video on boots with a bumper gaurd? I work in food and their is water on the floor often. I currently own a pair of the Georgia Giant Work boot and I love the rubber around the rim of the boot but they are freaking uncomfy!
Could you make the DVS Militia Snow please?! I really want to know your feedback on this pair of boots... It's widely used in the mountains by a bunch of young (and not so young) guys here!!☺️
Not that Converse makes boots but they've never claimed this is an actual boot. It a Chuck thats made of leather instead of canvas. As a motorcycle rider I love these shoes because the have the look of a Wolverine/Harley boot without the weight and even a Harley boot isn't going to save your ankle in a accident! I'm glad they're around. Oh and a scrawny teenager can rip apart a shoe once it's been sawed down the middle!! Lol smh
I've got a new video series suggestion. Could you cut a pair of square toed cowboy boots in half from various brands. Ariat, Cody James, Durangos ect.
Can you do a review of the Origin Maine work boot? I am a big fan of jocko willink and his company's "Made in America" ethos, so it'd be great to see if their boot construct is up to scrutiny by you.
Could you do a series of motorcycle riding shoes? Very curious if they are what they say they are.
You should review Thaelys’ shoe. Insider made a video on the company recently and I was wondering about the quality of the shoe itself.
