I think he is not entirely correct on one proverb. The one which has the English translation “show me your friend and I’ll show you your character” does not mean that you do the exact thing your friends do or that you are the same as your friends. It just means that people can reasonably tell the sort of person you are by those you associate with - even though the assumptions may be wrong. If you associate with armed robbers, you could be considered an armed robber (even though you may not be one). If you associate with 419 internet scammers, you may be considered one (even if you are not). The proverb just means choose your friends carefully so people don’t tag you with your friends’ character or behavior. It does not mean that you have the same character as your friends- which is what the explainer tries to imply. So the proverb is still valid.
