The big player sets a screen and the ball handler uses the space created to move the ball. Simple, yet effective, that’s what the Pick and Roll is.
But why is it so effective? Why has no one developed a way to defend it? How has it developed?
Ryan Baldi explains, Philippe Fenner illustrates.

Love this explantion and covering the more in depth varieties
Curry been in Cancun?
I think you guys still have some work to do on the basketball channel. For football, you have great minds that know football in and out and I don't think it has translated yet. From calling the pick n roll a "move" at the start of the video to the descriptions of PNR defenses at the end which focused on the on-ball defender only, which is inherently flawed. Also, ICE coverage was missed which is still very common in the NBA on side on-balls. Despite this, we need more of you in the basketball world, keep going!
I agree with this comment, but I appreciate their effort
This comment was spot on. Especially since there was a lot of talk on drop coverage in the last nba finals. If someone watched this video would not know what you mean. Other things missing are high hedge, a trap were they double the ball handler. There is scram switches where the big is switched before the pic and roll.
I also wish that you emphazied that with the removal of illegal defense it was harder to play one v one offenses and scoring plumented in the early 2000s until pace and space (the suns) started their shenanigans.
Would love to see more uploads. Great channel :)
More!
(please?)
I love the way you explain things!
Awesome content!
Trying to teach this to my kids this taught all of us. Thanks

Pickn roll is the basic building blocks of basketball plays
Now i need tifo gridiron football
Just the NFL? Or would that also include college?
I love your voice
Can you upload more frequently this channel underrated
No mention of Mark Price. Hmmm
Give and go next?
This was a well made video but the title is a bit misleading…very little time is spent actually explaining what the pick and roll is, and it’s not explained in a way that would make sense to many non-basketball fans
You can also ice a pick and roll
Nash was one of the best especially when it came to Amare stoudemire
AYO what did you do to steph in the thumbnail lol, blackified him.
Golden State runs the least screen/roll in the NBA since 2015 or so. Look deeper.
I'd consider a subscription if there was not a 100% focus on men's sports.
Pick & roll was abused by Nash and Stoudemire
First 😏
