Fast food is more processed and expensive, but everyone still eats it sometimes, regardless of income level. If I had to feed my family hot dogs everyday, I might not be happy about it, but I don’t think that’s the case here. I grew up low-income for a while, too, and hot dogs or hamburgers (on store-bought bread, of course) were maybe once per week. Nothing wrong with that. We weren’t deprived.

You know a really good inexpensive meal you might like? I usually use Eckridge sausage but you can use whatever kind of sausage you want.
    1. Cut sausage up add onion slices & green bell pepper 🫑 w/ salt, pepper & lemon juice and saute
    2. Add a can of tomatoes plus one whole can of tomatoes sauce (I usually add some chicken bouillon & if I make a lot I add chicken and shrimp for more protein)
    3. Pour over white rice and bam. Delicious. I'll add zucchini and squash too to make it even better. My husband and two sons love it and it's super cheap to make. It feeds them for a few days so the cost is very low even with all the added stuff I put in it. The longer it sits the better it tastes too.

I never seen anyone normalize what they call “cheap” food! FOR ME THIS BRINGS BACK CHILDHOOD MEMORIES.
My first childhood friend all summer long we would eat cut up hot dogs with eggs all day everyday with tortillas. Hot dogs where 2$ a pack and a pack of eggs where like 1.35$ I’m talking bout 10plus years ago haha. We would add potatoes or beans 🫘 also ❤
I taught my family how to make this and it’s super simple for children and they love it

Oh, you might like this so my grandmother used to make sausages you gotta get the Roger Wood, ones 1 or 2 zucchini, half a diced onions, and 1or 2 squash cooked together. It depends on how much you want to make. It helps to eye it.
You gonna cut the about 3 or 4 sausages, and cook it, halfway over, medium heat, then add in the diced onions. thinly cut the zucchini and squash.
You’re basically steaming them. the sausage oil helps cook the vegetable and give it more flavor.
Make sure you cover the food after mixing it altogether, and to stirring every once in a while. I like to add in a little bit of chicken broth and soy sauce, and seasoned to taste.
It’s good with rice on the side or you can actually throw your cooked rice into the food and cook it all together just add some more chicken broth and soy sauce so it’ll have moisture to it, and not be dry
