When you listen to the intro the narrator says, "In the late 21st century man landed on the moon in rocket ships". Amazing that this was made in the early 50's and that getting to the moon seemed like a feat that would take over 150 years to accomplish, where in reality it would happen in the next 20 years.

If he would have just given them the landing coordinates, then they could have made a feature length movie out of this. It would have been good. It may have even won an Oscar.

  • @tiffanybatcheller-harris522

Actually, all the Krell knowledge wasn’t lost. The crew took Robbie with them. Also, Robbie would’ve had some Krell knowledge (since he was a replication of their technology and certainly understood how he himself worked). I always wondered what became of him (and Altaira) after the crew returned to Earth. 🤔

Morbius: I will not supply landing coordinates.
Navigator: Without coordinates we can't land. What'll we do, Skipper?
Skipper: I say we lift off and nuke the whole planet from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Navigator: Nuke the planet? Surely you don't mean that?
Skipper: I do indeed mean that, Mister! And don't call me Shirley!

LOL --- I did somehow expect it to be a tad longer. :-)
When I was in 10th grade, in Central NY, my HS Biology Class went on a very-long Field Trip to the NYC Museum of Natural History, some 200 miles away. Back then, in early 1960s', there were Old Movies on after the 11 PM News, By the time my father picked me up at the end of day, it was near 11:30 pm. My father was a farmer, so had to get up around 4 am, so he immediately went to bed. My mother had fallen asleep on the dining room couch, while waiting for us, All the younger kids were already in bed, TV was in the dining room. I was still wired from the trip. "Forbidden Planet" happened to be the late movie that night (in 1963). I got almost half way into it, when my mother woke up and sent me to bed!
Some 12 years later, TV stations would show "B" movies, and Sci-Fi and Monster movies on Saturday afternoons. So it happened that, one Saturday afternoon the local TV station chose to show "Forbidden Planet"! After 12+ years I finally got to see the Whole Thing!
In the 1980's I bought it on VHS. Eventually got it on DVD.
Imagine, taking 12 years to see the Entirety of a Movie! :-)
