"Regulating" all the guns away will do something much worse than any school massacre. Governments have murdered hundreds of millions, if not billions of people. Government is far more scary than a lone coward with a gun.
The solution is not less guns, it's MORE guns. If teachers could carry firearms, and "gun-free" zones abolished, there would be far less massacres, or at least would stop potential massacres from occurring.
An armed society is a polite society.

My children have had at least two shooters, alone just this year, attempt to enter the building but were intercepted by police as they are right next door to the school. I feel my children are more protected with a carrying teacher then without. They have to push a specific button, which sounds an alarm through the whole school, to be able to access the gun.
On the other side, if a teacher decides to go rogue, obviously the children are no longer safe in those brief moments.
This conversation alone is beyond scary, given the choices.

    • @mkuti-childress3625
      @mkuti-childress3625 Před 2 lety +4

@@Gr8fulnomad It is terrifying. And there isn’t going to be a perfect answer. When I was still in school, a middle school teacher lost it, locked his students in the classroom, and threatened them with a chair if they moved, even after the bell rang. I know someone who is dealing with being molested by a teacher decades ago. I can’t imagine what might happen if teachers like these had guns in their classrooms. Not to mention the risk of one being stolen by a student to possibly use on others-or themselves.
If someone is going to have a gun around children, then I want them to be trained as much as anyone in our military-no, more, because even most military personnel aren’t allowed to walk around a base with a loaded weapon. The military keeps everything locked up tight, and every piece of equipment and ammo is counted after any training exercises. Even people in the military with jobs that greatly involve firearms, like snipers, can’t walk around with a loaded weapon. The military is _very_ strict about it.
Why would we want our kids in a place where the rules about guns are more lax than even in our own military bases?
I fully believe that if there are more guns, than there are just more opportunities for people who are mentally ill or suicidal or enraged to kill someone on any given day. Or to threaten someone, or to terrify someone into doing something they don’t want to do.

There are people right now accusing teachers of indoctrinating students, of being pedophiles or being so many terrible things. Please remember that it is teachers who are the ones who step between the gunman and the children. Our goal is to protect children, to nurture them, to assure that they are ready to move on to the next grade. We are also the ones who must protect them from all the terrible things out there in the world that are trying to come onto school campuses and hurt these precious children. Something needs to be done, enough is enough and I wonder who has to face a catastrophic event in this world before someone steps up and says enough is enough and actually does something about it.

First of all, not all teachers are bad. Everyone knows that, but to act like there aren't teachers doing exactly the things you attempted to discredit is dishonest. They're uploading videos of themselves doing & discussing the very things you listed all over tik tok, YT & more, they just don't call themselves indoctrinators.
The problem is they need better school safety measures and there needs to be a ban on assault rifles (weapons with rapid-fire ammunition capabilities) specifically, not handguns. I have personal reasons in my own life that I need a handgun for personal safety. Rapid-fire ammunition weapons with magazines are always present in massacres.

You ask, basically, "What's it going to take before the pro-gun people in Congress decide to DO something about these murders?"
In my small town of almost 30,000, there was an intersection where fatal accidents just kept happening because there was no traffic light.
There were editorials in the paper, there were marches, phone calls, petitions......but never a traffic light. People kept dying.
Then on a summer Friday night when all the teenagers were out as usual the daughter of a very wealthy and powerful dentist got killed at that intersection. There was a traffic light put up within 10 days.
      Does that answer your question?

When is America going to wake up and see that what we're doing just isn't working? When will it finally be enough? The sad truth though is that the people who have the most guns will never give them up because they think they have a God given right to have them and vocally proclaim that they'll have to be pried from their "cold, dead hands". Hello Dawn,
I read what you wrote under this video. I wish I could imagine how you feel about what happened yesterday. I too have nieces as well albeit much younger than your own and I have three cousins representing the minority around your nieces' age.
Three of my friends got their lives stolen this way and one of my sister's friends also died from suicide this way.
It turned out to be even worse than you heard yesterday. Nineteen children and two teachers didn't need to go by a massacre.
I have no problem showing sympathy, condolences or even thoughts when things like that happen. Important policies that would help stem the gun violence is needed in this country. I just refuse to accept that gun violence would continue to be the way it is. You and I likely both know that the gun violence here has gotten too much and common to the point of being senseless. I know this is so hard and difficult for you, but I hope your nieces are safe and sound.

As far as I know, most school massacres in the United States are related to school violence, and most schools fail to protect these victims of school violence, or even provide assistance to the perpetrators, causing these people to use extreme methods to end their lives. Why do you never pay attention to these? Ignoring is the root of the problem. You ignore the essence of the problem and only consider the issue of guns. Majority of mass shooting crimes that happened recently came from young boys aged 17 to 21 ,it is now a pattern, once teenagers turn into a manhood they start shooting, they need more time to be more mature and responsible before holding a gun, I think 25 years or older is good age to start holding a gun.and put in consideration the effect of action video games and violence toys that mothers give their boys at a young age which make them more violent because they think being aggressive and violent is part of masculinity.

Gun sales always go up after mass shootings. So it’s unarguable that the NRA profits immensely off of dead children. A bunch of those guys are probably in their pinstripe suits right now clinking champagne glasses and lighting up cigars. You think they give a fuck about a few more dead kids? FUCK NO.

I remember back I 86 I was in kindergarten and my teacher took a call from the classroom phone. She sounded nervous but calm at the same time. She then told us to hide under our desks and she closed the drapes. As she was locking the windows I saw adjacent classrooms being locked up by the teachers. It was 1230pm give or take and the school looked closed down. I heard our doorknob move around but it stopped. Then we heard someone trying to open the other classroom doors nearby. Later on we found that some guy escaped from a mental health facility miles away from us. He previously went to that elementary school when he was a kid. He also raped and killed and tortured some children. I thank God everyday that our teachers were fast and brave. We were sitting ducks. Most of our survival was because we were quiet because our teacher told us Freddy Krueger was outside. It scared us so bad that we were complying by our teachers commands and it saved all of us. With technology being advanced today, why do school slayings happen? We need to train our kids better to prevent cowardice acts like this.

A gut wrenching, heartfelt exercise in futility, the biggest crime for these so called law makers. It shouldn't be lost on anyone at this point these elected officials have gone to Washington to serve themselves and not the people.

I'm curious, why do you never focus on why they did such extreme actions to end their lives, but only on guns? As far as I know, most school massacres in the United States are related to school violence, and most schools fail to protect these victims of school violence, or even provide assistance to the perpetrators, causing these people to use extreme methods to end their lives. Why do you never pay attention to these? Ignoring is the root of the problem. You ignore the essence of the problem and only consider the issue of guns. Even if there are no guns, things like this will happen in the United States.
