      This is the goal for me man. I just started. Working out of a 1996 accord lol. I love the work. Always have. I was gonna work for an established detailing company in my area. I had them do a ceramic coating for my car. While they did an excellent job I saw spots they missed. Spots I wouldn't have missed. I went back there and told them. They wanted to hire me immediately. They said $20-23 an hour to start out, which is not bad at all. But I told myself what if I just do it myself. Ever since I've been really happy with it. I got one more year of college and it's game on after that.

    Other than getting the hose connector turned around (watch out for that one), the machine is simple to put together and use czcams.com/users/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP . And very nice, too. I'm surprised at the power-it's more than we'll ever need, and we've not even used the most powerful setting yet.I've cleaned off a dirty concrete porch to get it ready for sealing, started to clean siding, and I know this pressure washer will be terrific for cleaning tools this fall.The only issue we had is we had turned around the hose connector, and it leaked. Once it was on correctly, though, we had no problems with the connection. Just remember that the end with the green knob goes towards the hose. It's obvious now what we did wrong, but not necessarily obvious at the time.

    I've been working at a detailing shop for 3 years or so, and I understand the difficulty of some interiors. My least favorite thing to do is vacuum dog hair out of carpets and seatbacks that don't release it easily. One suggestion I might make, from one detailer to another, is to wear a headlamp for interiors. I work in a shop, so we don't have sunlight at our disposal, but extra lighting still might be beneficial as the light reveals any imperfections. Keep it up man, enjoying the videos!

    • @LowTegs
      @LowTegs Před 3 lety

      And another comment lol I love to help. The Wood Lint Remover is also great for when you are done pressure washing floor mats and you wanna strain a bunch of water out instead of having to keep emptying your extractor a bunch of times instead of minimal empty counts. The wood lint remover is a life saver and I use it more and more with my details.

    Good job on your video. I appreciate your honesty. I started my detail business in 1965 as a sophomore in high school. My prices back then was $ 25.00for a complete wash and add hard shell turtle wax was $10.00. Blue Coral was a premium polish and wax back then. Application was with a Craftsman 3/8" Drill with a buffing pad. The end result was my best selling tool. Earned a lot of money on those summers off. In the 70's I had a pole barn in the back of my property. My business took off. Teaching Auto Shop and Welding classes during the day and detailing at night. Malco was the high end detailing chemicals. Prices went up accordingly. Flash ahead to 2022 I have about 43 loyal customers that depend on me to make their vehicles look great. At 73 years old and enjoying retirement it's difficult to say no to clients that are now friends. Today total wash with ceramic car soap, decontamination, iron spray is $65.00 basic wash above and polishing and ceramic coating is $ 300.00. It should be higher but hey I'm retired.

    It really depends on the market and client. We print stickers and have “customers” come and say that the next guy can do it cheaper while we have other returning customers that we just send a invoice and they get that taken care of without a budge. It’s always hard starting out since your still learning and getting your routine down but once you feel like you got that covered test new grounds and raise your prices. In logo design one designer can charge $20 while another will charge 20k the only difference is one values his time more. Market your self as a premium brand and that’s how people will treat you. Don’t let people tell you your over charging if others are willing to pay more for the service. Just the way of business.

      When people overmarket themselves they cam also go out of buisness.
      If I see a shop with a ton of money in it and it advertises themselves that way, I don't even call because I know I'm about to be charged for really expensive operation costs instead of the service i need done.
      As a customer, its important to see where the money is really going as well, because that's how you judge the honesty of a shop.
      A shop with a bunch of clean snap on tools and equipment for days with hardly any work is just as bad a sign as a shop with 50 unfinished projects on the lot.

I would suggest you get rid of the express wash unless they have multiple vehicles at the same location, your really not making much on those unless you do a lot of volume but you do exhaust yourself also. I would suggest you increase your prices by at least $50. Yes you won’t do as much volume as you are now but TRUST ME you definitely get cleaner cars and more quality clients. Especially since you are fairy establishment with a good track record and lots of review, new clients won’t have a problem paying your new prices. Hope this helps

    My detail business, I charge simplified pricing, and then add additional services (wet sand, road paint, interior scent bomb, remove seats, etc) and come from a flat rate mentality. Sometimes you win some, while sometimes (rarely) you lose some. But either way, you always win in the end. And customers are happy... all because they remember simplified pricing.

  • @LilJorge24
    @LilJorge24 Před rokem

    Definitely in the right ballpark IMO. I think you should simplify it something like what we use
    -Maintenance Wash $50-$65
    -Mini detail- small/ or clean vehicles $100-140
    -Standard detail $150-180
    -Full detail $220+
    Everything from extractions, sealants, clay, engine bay etc are all up sales depending on customer needs/expectations.

    I tell everyone interior averages 110 for sedan.
    If its not bad I then lower price accordingly. Im starting to get vehicles that arent that bad, but as I tell my customers- I still have to go over the entire interior- its like vacuuming a carpet. You still vacuum the whole rug in the living room even if its not bad.

    For your basic washes try using not so expensive products and for your premium washes used the top quality products to drive your price. And maybe for your basic washes don’t add the shine because the rims and tires just need to be washed not diamond quality. Make sure basic is basic so you will have better levels to your pricing while also making the levels worth your time and money in replacing your products. I am sure you have learned this by now but, Let the customer know that the $150 is the starting price of your package, If your vehicle is in an excessive damage of condition, the service price can change based upon the condition such as pet hair or excessive trash in vehicle. This is 2022 you have learned a lot so far and we appreciate you sharing your journey with the public. Don't share everything with us though. Some things are better kept inside of your company. LOL. God Bless you Mr. Hunter.

He paid $280 and gave a $40 tip, in Maine. I told the guy that that same costumer who’s truck it was for paid me herself because she saw my work and wanted it done! The body shop guy saw it and said I was cheating myself that he wouldn’t buff for no less than a $1000.00 you are right bro we are going to learn and grow together
