2 amp preouts is quite a difference in comparison to the 5 amp? How important is it for getting the best sound from your amps? cant we just turn up the gain?

Single din are still alive because that's what you must buy if you want physical knobs. Let's face the fact. All those touch screen apple/android stereos are 99% identical with each other and offer no variety in function or design. They all have the exact same features and internal chips. Slap a cheap label for low budget people and slap a high end label for the ones that want to impress but the fact is they are all the same junk. Anybody who says different is either in the business of making a sale or a sucker that made the buy.

I’m actually removing my Pioneer DDIN touch screen that I installed in 2018 that now has three problems with the single-DIN Alpine UTE-73BT and a dash pocket.
Problems with the Pioneer I’m removing are:
Front right channel comes and goes. I think it’s the pre out. I took apart the unit, and found no issues with a cracked or bad solder joint, so I think it’s just a crappy(cheap) pre out jack.
It sometimes just decides to turn off, then when it’s done being shy, will turn on 15-20 minutes into the drive. It doesn’t do this often, and when it does, will be fine for a week or so before it does it again. It’s not a bad connection, because I soldered the connections myself at the harness, and you can hear the fan still running.
And finally, when I accidentally touch the scan button, it also erases all the presets. Extremely annoying bad programming.
Yeah, I’m done with that touch screen garbage. Car is 22 years-old now, so switching from Pioneer in-dash microwave to Old-school style /////Alpine.
Since 2001, all the head-units I’ve purchased were Pioneer, this one has got me going Alpine.
Last year I put an Alpine in my niece’s ride, and I really liked it. So I’m getting a similar one. I think the one I bought her was the next step up.

I personally don’t like the floating single din head units in certain vehicles! I feel they look so out of place. So there’s definitely still a place in the market for more traditional single din units 👍🏻

I just bought the Alpine UTE-73BT to replace the Sony CDX-GT35U on my SEAT Ibiza 2005. Most of the buttons from the Sony unit have already stopped working, the screen has many scratches and I have not used the CD player for a very long time; my music was mostly played from an USB Stick. A couple months ago I setup a nice Android Auto display and the stereo was only being used for receiving sound via the front AUX input. The Android Auto unit has a very bad microphone. I have high hopes for the Alpine unit.

I have a Pioneer DEH-80PRS and want to replace it with Alpine CDE-175BT. I decided to replace it because the Pioneer is no longer needed since I now have an 8-channel sound processor Hertz H8 DSP. I just need a good sound source without any equalizers, bass boosts, and other features. Although, of course, Alpine also has this, I think that the sound quality will be better than with the Pioneer. When I receive my Alpine next week, I will definitely compare the sound quality of these two head units.

In direct comparison, on home Hi-Fi, both car radios sound very decent in stereo. But they sound different. Alpine's sound is more like my Cambridge. The mids are well developed. The music sounds very voluminous, its depth is simply amazing. The bass is also very good. It is deep and resilient. At high frequencies, my Cambridge plays a little bit cleaner. Maybe it just seemed like that. And in the car, the situation has changed radically. With high frequencies, it's in order, it plays very cleanly. And the middle has become a lot, it even causes some discomfort when listening at high volume levels. I'll have to turn down the midrange speaker level on my sound processor. I want to emphasize that Alpine, in my opinion, is more demanding on the quality of the recording. And this is the privilege of more expensive devices. And on both car radios, the outputs are 5 volts. But when the Pioneer was connected to the sound processor, the input levels on Hertz were in the middle. When I connected Alpine, they are now almost at a minimum. Draw conclusions. And the leading noises are almost inaudible. When Pioneer was connected, they annoyed me a lot. Although the power connection in the car is done perfectly, even the loop has been eliminated, this is when all the equipment is connected in different places. Correctly connect to the same power line. The pioneer gave more leading noise. My solution is Alpine. Although it does not have a processor like in the Pioneer, its sound is very decent. Now for the Pioneer. It plays very cleanly on home equipment. Even cleaner than my Cambridge. I think this setting was done intentionally. With mids, it is not at all like in Alpine. There are fewer of them and the sound is not as voluminous, flatter compared to Alpine. But the sound is also very decent. Both devices can be safely attributed to the Hi Fi sound level. They just sound different. Plus, the Pioneer has a full-fledged 3-way sound processor. And since the decision has been made, in the near future I will put my Pioneer on sale.

    • @BreakersStereo
      @BreakersStereo  Před 2 lety +1

Hey there, this is Jake from Breakers. The only single din Sony I absolutely adore is the RSX-GS9. Other than that, Alpine blows Sony single dins out of the water in my opinion. Not only do they sound better, but they also have more options with fine tuning your EQ, adjust speaker levels and adding filtrations to help "elevate" the sound.
Side note: Never use any loudness or bass boost filtrations from those units. They make your system sound absolutely horrible! Invest into a subwoofer for sure.

I am no expert but I buy crap used vehicles and usually they have aftermarket radios, and usually they never work.
Either the turn knob is broken so you can't properly use the radio, or the buttons don't work, or the little screen doesn't properly work. Usually the radio itself functions but the poor quality buttons, knobs, etc basically make it unusable.
who makes a QUALITY product with buttons that actually work? I don't really like knobs they seem like a failure point, I prefer simple buttons. Would like usb, aux, maybe even a cd player.
