- Are Thrift Stores Really Worth Going To Anymore?
I rarely thrift during 80ish while sharing on my new vlog channel @sonnylasvegaslife. Now at to where I'm organized and ready to thrift again. My goal is to find items that I love and sells in Niknax auctions and on ebay.
It looks like headed towards weekend sourcing at yard sales, garage sales, estate sales, flea markets and swap meets where a dollar goes further than in thrift stores for me here in Vegas.

Yes the thrift stores have changed!🙁
Sonny, All of the resellers are mentioning the higher prices at GW. It’s the same way in my home state of PA. Try looking for thrift stores that give the money they raise to charities and missionaries. I’ve found 2 around my home and the prices are much lower. Estate Sales in my area usually have things 1/2 price on the last day , which here is usually Saturday.
Imma have to search elsewhere with what little I’m finding lately. It’s fun, but it had to be worth on top of that to keep the business going.
My favorite Goodwill is destroying themselves. Before I would always buy a cart full but this time I walked out of the store with one hat. They had to rearrange everything because they have so many clothes you can hardly walk through the store isles. They also raised the prices again, mixed all the sizes together and over priced name brands.
That’s happening all over. I don’t bother with them anymore. I’ve stopped thrifting. There are great prices for new stuff on clearance at lots of stores.
You know why? Likely because they know people are buying then selling online for twice or triple the price. I wanted to buy something at 1 of my local thrift stores and offered to pay a certain price he took the object into the back to check the prices online. He came back and said nope the price is what it is. I told him off as he had the item donated to their store for free so why charge online prices? I see he doesn't work at that store anymore but still the prices are a bit high. Some items are cheaper but you maybe only make $5-$10 if you paid $8-$10 on something. I have to be more choosy and shop on seniors discount days (my husband is a senior I'm not yet) lol
@@MissX905 They get inventory free, they don't clean it, they don't pay any fee's but somehow it is resellers fault that made them do it. It was bad enough they were pulling things and opening their own online store, getting a contract to make US Navy military uniforms and still maintaining their non-profit 501 (c)(3) status by the IRS.
Watching you on TV. Blessing to You Carla, and little Tip
Anything from Disney can stay right where I found it!!!!
Your “serving saucers” are for plant pots :) xo
You sure they aren’t for jello molds 😊✨ bwahahaha. Thank you for letting me know. Honestly I felt like they were for plants, but also knew you amazing people would set me right 😊❤️ thank you!
@@SonnyLasVegas - honestly, they’d actually work well as a jello mold. I like minds who think outside of the box (the jello box!) 🤣
Sunny the plastic things that you are holding go underneath the plants To help catch the overflow of the water.
timestamp 12:56.
Also need to Get a hold of you I have a 2 sets of vintage lamps that I would love for you to come and take a look at.Also a Vintage sewing cabinet downsizing .
Did you say, lamps! 😊 I love lamps! What part of Vegas are you in? Mind emailing me at SonnyLasVegas702@gmail.com
Thrifting it's not like it used 2 b. Love your videos.
Seems like rummage sales, estate sales and even antique stores are the way to go
Sonny same here in Ireland all the charity shops are like retail prices 😢
Yes here in Sydney too 🇦🇺
Those plastic saucers are for indoor pots for plants.
Local thrift stores are pricing like that have eBay customers. They have local customers. If they priced accordingly, people would be filling up those carts like they used to.
I only noticed now that I’m thrifting again that carts being filled are on $1 days and senior citizens discount day.
I haven’t been to savers in over a year. I need to get back to the thrift stores that I haven’t been to. I definitely don’t look for the things that you and Mikey look for. I never check the glass section because I focus on another category.
Sunny, you are such a smart young man. I'm glad that you found those shoes still make your day. And I loved seeing Carla with AK she is so pretty.
I'm glad she likes to go shopping with you. Sometimes have a good weekend.😊😊😊😊😊
Use them for under plants!
Another great video Sonny!!!
Another cool vlog
Sonny the saucers are for under plants
Now I know 😊
Thanks for sharing your thrifting video!❤
Plant saucers
yeah, it's a bit frustrating. If you want retail prices, then you need to run your store like an antique store so stuff doesn't get damaged. But they don't, stuff is crammed on the shelves. Those high prices won't sell if they sit on the shelf and get damaged. I wonder how long GW will do the eBay model, that takes a lot of space and money to run an eBay store, is it really worth it to them? I've heard some have stopped.
Karla is so funny, that action figure did look like you Sonny😂😂Great video! #resellercartel 🤠
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sonny, you crack me up. Thanks for the videos. I always look forward to them. I don't shop for the same things you do but I love thrifting. Hope to run into you in the wild one day.
😊. I crack me up too! Are you in Vegas?
Yes. North Vegas. We shop some of the same stores 😁
😊❤ we don't have this thirft here in California
I went to a few thrift stores in Rancho Cucamonga bout two years ago. The mom and pop thrift stores are really expensive.
@SonnyLasVegas oh wow iv never been there I live in Fresno Ca country :) yeah alot of thirft store are nuts 😳
Hi Sonny those saucers are to put under a potted plant love your videos .
😱 ahhh! I kept wanting to say that I feel like it could be used for plants. I knew I’d get told what they are for in the comments 😊 ya are the best, thank you!
COOTIES!! LOL
❤🙃
The Savers where I live is way our of control on their prices...it's ridiculous😮
I’m try the bigger savers soon! We’ll see how that one goes next week.
Little plastic dishes go under your plants
I have been finding better prices at local consignment stores.
Imma try some myself soon.
Goodwill is pricing high on items. They got free and mostly junk. Wouldn’t get my time for that place.
You went to Savers without me. I am sad now lol.
When Karla is willing to go I can’t stop being in motion. But that huge savers Monday I’m excited about.
@SonnyLasVegas for sure always Karl's first. I understand. I am also excited about Monday.
No ,they aren't ,thrift store used to be fun ,now not so much .
Sonny try the the other Savers to see what ya think..its a little further but in a higher end area. It's been awhile(like over a year..trying to downsize so have backed off from shopping but for stuff I need right now) since I've been there but always found nicer stuff...*the jewerly they do have a person that looks them up and prices..but found stuff that they have missed hanging rack that are out of the case..also missed at a great price because it did not have a makers mark and was a piece of the top makers that use to have swing tag or antique jewelry that at that time did not mark..let the hunt begin😂😂😇
All thrifts raised prices not rights when they get donations
I’m finding that to be true for majority of things. The things I am finding are very few. I just need to get out more on weekends for yard sales and the flea market.
To expensive I don’t buy from them no more
I’m trying to find worthy things at thrift stores, but really looking forward to weekend yard sale.
Sonny could you please pull your lovely hair back or flick it back your hair appears to like the camera in your shots 😊
It has a mind of its own 😊
Savers is a "for profit" company. They tell you that too, everything you get from them is for the profit of themselves. They have never claimed to be a charity. So I expect higher prices there. Have a great day
