  • Hopefully you found this video helpful/entertaining. I figured painting the trim was worth a shot before spending hundreds on new trim. I am very satisfied with the results for the money. Let me know what kind of DIY content you'd like to see in the future!

Bro I just replaced just about every single trim piece and gasket on my Techno. I had to paint the same metal trim, it was in the same condition. I feel your pain lmao

I will say that for anyone who’s capable of doing this at home should really consider doing this rather than buying the new trim. Reason being, I’ve gone to the extent of buying the new trim when we painted my car and unless you are an assembly line e36 worker back in the 90s making these cars and have thousands of these trim installs under your belt then go right ahead because it’s a bitch installing the new trim perfectly without any kinks while installing the new trim that you just spent hundreds of dollars on 😅 the first side you install won’t be as pretty as the second side just saying and I try to be a perfectionist

just replaced mine recently. the new drip rails arent even the same shape as the original ones. no matter how well u install them theyll never look as good as the originals. i think for most people repainting the old ones is the way to go. removing them is not difficult at all. the rear vent window has to be removed to install or u will ruin your trim.
