not if the light is DIRECTLY level and in front of her
(BUT, the shadows he added at the end implies its not, so yeah its off)
@@fruitygranulizer540 if the light is level and directly in front of her, the light will still not gonna appear straight. imagine if her face is a basket ball or a box. the light won't be straight.
@@Alex-qj3wp no it will appear straight if it is directly in front and level with the camera since the rays will point straight forward. it will only appear curved if you view it from a different angle.
@@fruitygranulizer540 even if the object is a box (that has a flat surface), the light will appear bigger on the box than the wall because the box is closer to the camera so the effect won't be like how it's edited in the short. and if it's a ball, there will be some curve. the light is not a straight LINE, it's a 2d rectangle, and there are multiple of it so no, it won't appear straight like hoe it's in the youtubr short across a human face.

Great except it’s not 100% realistic, the light on the walls would be more blurry on the edges because the wall is further away, and of course it would get more blurry as you go from left to right. Not hating, just pointing it out 👍

Your light isn't wrapping around the subjects face.
Light expands, darkens and softens around contortions. So this is quite unrealistic it looks good though

Why not just do the first part on a new layer and blend it? Seems like it would have the exact same results but be much simpler, faster, and cleaner. And you could change it later still.

This is thw wrong way to do it. Always use displacement map to follow the shape of the face for the shadows. Shadows never falls on to a surface that flat unless its a wall
