Lovely work! This might be the first time I have seen a hoof that didn’t have the same shape - definitely not mirror image halves. It was interesting to see how you hot shaped the shoe to fit correctly.

Nice job! I noticed most of the horses hooves you work with doesn't have long hairs on the hoof. Is it mostly race horses?

A typical light horse, including racehorses, tend not to have the long hoof hair, which is called feathering.
Heavy horse breeds, called draft horses, do have feathering. Those are the ones with the big hooves that are typically used for work.

Please explain. My knowledge of horses is extremely limited, so I’m genuinely asking. Not trying to be a smartass

@@toddfox675I’m guessing he talking about the frog not being dug into deeper to be cleaned out. Most farriers I see do a much deeper dig on the frog so that’s what I’m assuming he’s talking about because he barely did any work on it.

@@larrywilliams3313 Horrible comment! Not very intelligent either!
So you’re the expert around here are you. To have the impertinence to question his knowledge and expertese in his own craft is just stupid and ignorant!
If you can’t say anything nice and positive, then don’t say anything at all. Your post is pathetic and idiotic!

Besides seeing that the hoof had a lot of mud inside the cavity before the shoe was removed, we are all ignorant of the current weather conditions where this horse lives. I’ve learned recently just how much very wet or very dry weather changes even the size of a horse’s hooves. It shouldn’t be a surprise; I know during the very dry wintertime, my own hair and fingernails are more easily damaged than during temperate conditions. As much as I appreciate seeing a beautiful trimmed and polished hoof, to the horse it’s far more important for the trim to address function rather than appearance.
