  • Norfolk Uncovered is a series of short documentaries about the less-known and less-obvious relics and ruins of the county of Norfolk, in the United Kingdom.
This episode focuses on the popular seaside town of Cromer, and it's fascinating railway history of lost lines, viaducts, and the only standard-gauge railway tunnel in Norfolk.
Narrated By: Mike Richmond, with additional narration by John Batley of the Friends of Norwich City Station (FoNCS).
Norfolk Uncovered is filmed on a very small budget, and we make do with the equipment available, so please enjoy and make the most of what you see... Some of the featured sites may not be here in the future...

During the mid and late 1940s my dad spent a lot of time watching trains at Cromer high, He would often meet his uncle there who was train driver. Much later on during the mid 70s my dad would often take me round the what was left of the old Cromer high station. So sad that it wasn't kept, I would love to have seen it at its peak. Great film by the way...Thankyou.

Really interesting video. Cromer tunnel is the last remaining standard gauge tunnel as there was a 200yd long one between Fakenham and Walsingham at Barsham this was opened out in 1912 but its lower walls remain to this day
    Cheers Russ

Really interesting, and i think its brilliant that there are groups out there who want to preserve our history ,when sadly there seems many wanting to change it or burry British history

I feel heartened when people are able to keep buildings in tact even if they are put to other use.

Just started watching your Cromer programmes as I'm there end of August. I must say the production values on these are very high, editing, graphics etc. I can't believe you do this all yourself! Great stuff and keep it up please.

      Thank you.
I do indeed write, film, edit, create graphics and compose the music myself.
Of course, my Grandfather provides the voice for the narrative- his voice is much more suited to the subject matter!

    Thanks Chris. You're dead right.
The thing is, Norfolk Uncovered has developed it's own "format". Regardless of the subject of the video, there is an identity there.
Not just that, but ALL of the music used in Norfolk Uncovered is done in-house. That means it is all composed, arranged, and edited by myself, which I think is rather an achievement!
Anyhow, thanks Chris and Paul for your feedback. :-)

Stinging nettles at 7 minutes in by the cattle dock looked pretty potent

Indeed! (Watch Stu's hand at 07:00- blatantly been stung! Four years on, the nettles have long gone as houses have now been built here.

I remember taking my coach from Walsingham to Cromer and as I parked by the station I walloped the awning with the n/s mirror but got away with it, lol.

Paul, the music and FX used in all ''Norfolk Uncovered'' Video's I think you will find is there signature/theme tune music. All the documentary are of the past and deals with relics and ruin's,so regardless what the ''subject'' matter is you get the eerie and spooky feel with that kind of music in the background. You could not change the music for every piece of subject matter. It would be like the news at ten having to alter there theme tune music depending what news subject was covered that day:)

      @michaelgamble296 Před 6 lety

May I be pedantic in my observing that the plural of 'ruin' is 'ruins' - not 'ruin's' . Also 'alter there theme' should read 'alter their theme'

I once saw a video clip of a Class 47 shunting in Cromer goods yard, does anyone else remember that? i do still own the clip but not sure where it is.

Interesting video but, for me, spoiled by unnecessary turgid background noise for some reason. Why?

why are the Stupid Landowners and the Council objecting to the reinstatement of the triangle bringing back into use the 2nd viaduct at East Runton surely it would make sense to have a direct link again to Sheringham without reversing in towards Cromer, especially for specials and thru` traffic to Holt

It would also be useful for turning steam engines - for the N.N.Rly is possibly going to operate into Cromer.

Fascinating piece of film, i love railway and industrial archaeology and this was excellent. One thing though, I don't wish to sound rude but could you please lose the 'Most Haunted' style music and FX? it doesn't work with the subject matter.
