    I’ve just renewed my 2 year motorcycle and car Thai licence here in Pattaya. So I now have the 5 year licences. I managed to do both at the same time, apparently you can renew a car and bike license up to 6 months before expiring and up to one year after the expired date. Both the five year licence’s expire on your birthday. So mine lasts for five years and six months! Plus you need a medical certificate it’s only valid for one month and you need two residency certificates for the car and motorbike license!

    GOOD to see someone making sence. Clear information. In Bangkok no videos in the Transport department. Your correct sometimes even after much research and advice at times you'll want to pull your hair out. After 35 years my best advice to all. The secound you think you know it all in Thailand the world will come crashing around you. But remember it's just as hard for Thais trying to help us. So keep cool and smile. So far for you well done the first 35 years are the hardest.

    Great informative vlog. One question ❓ did you have to have any of your documents translated to Thai??

    Good informational format! For how long is the Thai driver license valid and how to renew?

    Just a quick question. Did you have to do a test? I've heard that some people have to go through driving school and pass a theory test

    • @DiscoveringThailand
      @DiscoveringThailand  Před měsícem +1

      No test.. other than watching a traffic light and saying what colours it was.if I didn't have a licence from my own country, then you would probably do a test.

    When you renew the 2 year Thai licence for a 5 year licence, must your home country license still be valid ?

    • @DiscoveringThailand
      @DiscoveringThailand  Před 14 dny

      Maybe someone can answer that here. I would think no because you already have the thai licence and are just renewing it.

    Did you have to give up your home country drivers license, or did they give it back to you.

    Hi, I am sorry if I missed it, but what is the benefit of having the Thai license since you already have an international drivers license?

    • @DiscoveringThailand
      @DiscoveringThailand  Před měsícem

      International drivers permit is only valid 3 months and can't be renewed outside your own country.

    • @lighttravel3407
      @lighttravel3407 Před měsícem

      @@DiscoveringThailand3 months validity sounds pretty useless. My international drivers license is valid for 3 years.

    • @DiscoveringThailand
      @DiscoveringThailand  Před měsícem +1

      Never heard of a international drivers license only international drivers permit. Permits expire in 1 year and only valid 3 months in countries your using it.

    • @sean13
      @sean13 Před měsícem

      @@lighttravel3407 it’s only valid for use in Thailand your first 3 months.

      @@DiscoveringThailand I wanted to check it on my document and it appears I have lost it. Good to know. This is from the US embassy in Thailand: "An international driving license is accepted as long as it is valid, but a foreign license is not accepted in Thailand. " Mine was valid for 3 years and I had to carry it with my original drivers licence.
