** What's with the necklaces?
Rex is a whiskey mooch. His necklace is a manifestation of pure glory - forged from the irradiated bones of eagles and wolves. Also a tube sock.

Daniel is a whiskey sommelier. His necklace is a token of his sommelier level, and he trains whiskey sommeliers at The Whisk(e)y Marketing School in Austin Texas.
**A Whisk(e)y school?
Yup. Here are a few things we believe.
** You don’t have to be a snob to appreciate and love great whiskey.
Whisky and Whiskey (it depends on where it’s from) have been an important part of cultures around the world from time immemorial. Whiskey is a part of the very fabric of Western society, and in most places, is as common and accessible as beer.
Like Jazz and wine, snobs have predictably hijacked whiskey appreciation, spoiling our natural, common connection with it and creating a false dichotomy of “good whiskey” and “bad whiskey.”
It’s time to break through the emotional bias with facts and science. That’s what this school is about.
** The only valid definition of “good” whiskey is “whiskey you like to drink.”
Learning how to share your love of whiskey in a way that connects people to the history and the story has more to do with public speaking and storytelling than it does with facts and tests.
The best way to learn about whiskey and share that love is to drink whiskey and talk about it with friends. Study the history, find the stories, and discover the culture and the methods that have been developed over hundreds of years. That’s what you’ll do when you attend The Whisk(e)y Marketing School.

Hi! I’m marco, 20 years old (legal drinking age in Europe) Italian engineering student from Milano, I discovered your channel because of the pewds video and I’ve been watching your videos since then! Last week I bought my first bottle of whisky (Glenfiddich 12) because of you guys! I’m loving every sip of it and I want to thank you so much for having me introduced to this awesome experience , I had always thought whiskies were something made just for despicable elderly grandpas, now I know how wrong was I.
Keep it up with the passion and good work you put in your videos, because it is what has got someone like me from the other side of the globe interested in this money-draining, heart-warming habit!

Remaking expensive whiskeys is actually an awesome idea. I am legitimatly eagerly awating every episode! Rex gets at least 1.... make it 3, additional weeks for being so thoughtful of us viewers.

Tried Laphroag for the first time this weekend at a restaurant...as soon as the waiter delivered it my wife's reaction was "oh my god! It smells like a campfire in here!!!" Not sure if I am a fan of it yet but I couldn't stop thinking about it all night!!

4.) Thou shall not give, nor purchase liquor for another person, except in the most important of occasions for those closest to you.*
5.) When called on one's mooching one, with pride and plume, will agree and decree that you indeed are a mooch and then will toast with your mooched beverage of choice.
6.) When meeting Grandmaster Mooch Supreme, here on known as Rex, is the only acceptable time, outside of the aforementioned exemptions, one mooch can purchase whisk[e]y for another without fear of demerits.

I got a taste of the Octomore 08.1 on Friday. It had kippery notes with hints of nori (seaweed). One of the other tasters and I joked it was the sushi of Scotch :-)
Thanks for the vid reply guys! My plan has already started to return dividends. I had friends over for the UFC fights and 4 of them brought bottles of scotch for all to try. The first brought Lefroig 10, 2nd HP 12, 3rd brought Glenfiddich 12 and lastly a bottle of Talisker 10. As they are pretty new to Scotch most of my bottle of monkey shoulder and a 3rd of the bottle of HP 12 were consumed. But the Smokey whisky (which is my favorite) and the rest were left at my house. I am now sipping on Talisker and contemplating phase 2 of my sinister plan.

As a public service announcement..... In ITALY, ALLL night clubs work this way. The bartenders are more model then mixologist... go to any club, and enjoy... best part is the hangover food the next day... just better then anything ever!!!
Oh and yes in Italy when you order a whisky they have no clear idea of what they are doing usually so they take a regular water glass or fancy glass and fill it half...usually i have a freaking bucket of whisky for like 6€...

So, I live in Russia right now. Whisky isn't a big thing, as y'all likely know, BUT (don't crucify me), I found a vodka that y'all would probably enjoy. It's called Polugar (Полугар), and it would be interesting to see y'all try it.
Further, on to whisky, the most easily available whiskeys here are Jameson and various types of Jack Daniels. As someone who would like to start getting into whisky, which of the two would you suggest starting with first?
Isaiah Maness I started with Canadian blends. Not that fancy, but still a bang for the buck until you learn to drink, taste and smell the liquid. And after that you can move on :)

I to had a pretty good 'this bar doesnt know how to serve whiskey' experience. Ordered a bookers double pour neat for like, 12 dollars and got served a rocks glass basically full to the top of bookers. Easily the best bang for the buck situation I've ever been in at a bar. I gave the bartender a good tip though just incase I want to try my luck again some day in the future. I saw a bottle of dalmore there as well ;)

I have no idea what that 32 tastes like but I have added Glenfarclas 12 to Laphroaig Quarter Cask and liked it quite a bit.
I treated myself to a bottle of Laphroaig Lore this weekend and had about the same reaction. First sniff was so good and took completely by surprise. All I could say was "Oh my". Haha. Can't even imagine what that 32yo is like. If I could find Brenne I'd try the blend.
The Lore is far better.
Is that due to your preference for smokey/peaty over sweet sherry whisky? Or is Lore just better? I've heard super long aging kills the peat notes too so I'm sure the 32 is just a barrel heavy sherry bomb. If that's the case, I'd prob prefer Lore too. But I wouldn't say no to a dram of the 32yo either. ;)

Gordon & MacPhail is an independent bottler and distiller of Scotch Whisky, founded in 1895 and located in Elgin in the north-east of Scotland. Could you two do a tasting of one or more of their bottles? Might I reommend the speymalt from Macallen... make it a good one ;)
