The leaders of the Bengal Sultanate were known for their tolerance and their respect for religious freedom. This tolerance was reflected in the architecture of the Bengal Sultanate, which incorporated both Islamic and Hindu elements.
Empire of Nawab Sirajuddaula
The last independent ruler of the Bengal Sultanate was Nawab Sirajuddaula. He was a brave and capable ruler, but he was eventually defeated by the British East India Company at the Battle of Plassey in 1757. This marked the end of the Bengal Sultanate and the beginning of British rule in Bengal.
