In this lesson, you will learn what the binomial theorem is, why it is important, and how we can use the binomial theorem to expand binomials that are raised to any power (exponent). The binomial theorem is a formula that allows us to raise any binomial to any exponent (power) and calculate all terms of the binomial expansion. It works by calculating the results of pascal's triangle which are then used as the coefficient for the binomial expansion. The binomial expansion is very important in math but also in physics and engineering. We can often approximate a binomial raised to a power by taking only the first few terms of the expansion which can help us perform more complex calculations in calculus, physics, and other subjects.

I'm in grade 10 - and we were taught (a + b)^2 - I asked my teacher a question before learning the binomial theorem - "Ms. can you tell me what (a + b)^n or any large power should be" - she said "start learning the binomial theorem". And now I'm in love with this beautiful and actually pretty easy theorem.

A time spent on working with basics is worthwhile. One of the best way to familiarise with basics is to solve as many problems as possible; specially step by step.
