Shaman is a made up label that does not come from this Continent. Medicine Man or Women might be what you are thinking of as a label....but...in one way that description or label is wrong too. It is in the Tribal language...but in modern times some of them do not mind... "Medicine Man" because it is a genetic label and they may be more than a simply general term.

Even if Nathan is doing what he was accused of, what he said, at least in this video, is indeed traditional knowledge. Even if Dave really was selling ceremonies, it doesn't necessarily mean that the knowledge that they speak of isn't traditional or legitimate. It should at the very least make you cautious of what they say but there is no need to outright dispatch their character. There are too few of us Lakota and Indigenous people overall to be quarreling like this among ourselves. Every disagreement we have that remains unresolved weakens us. Shaman is a made up label that does not come from this Continent. Medicine Man or Women might be what you are thinking of as a label....but...in one way that description or label is wrong too. It is in the Tribal language...but in modern times some of them do not mind... "Medicine Man" because it is a genetic label and they may be more than a simply general term.

My kids tease me because, as far as I'm concerned, there's NOTHING sexier than a muscular Lakota with long black hair and deep brown, almost black colored eyes. Even if Nathan is doing what he was accused of, what he said, at least in this video, is indeed traditional knowledge. Even if Dave really was selling ceremonies, it doesn't necessarily mean that the knowledge that they speak of isn't traditional or legitimate. It should at the very least make you cautious of what they say but there is no need to outright dispatch their character. There are too few of us Lakota and Indigenous people overall to be quarreling like this among ourselves. Every disagreement we have that remains unresolved weakens us. We are all Ikce Wicasa, including those of us who have Spirit Helpers. We are all susceptible to individual hubris. This must not be ignored, surly. But it must be addressed in such a way as to not eviscerate our common bond as kin.
