  • While the world is still mastering ‘driverless’ cars, the brightest minds in India have already made a head start. Students and Professors of Lovely Professional University have designed and built a driverless electric bus that is also solar powered. Based in Jalandhar, it took these students 12 months to design and build the bus that has a capacity to seat 10 to 30 people, can travel at 30 km speed and cover a distance of up to 70 km on a single charge. Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication technology has been used to make the bus driverless. The bus also uses GPS and Bluetooth for navigation and could be controlled within a radius of 10 metres. The bus is completely pollution free and uses only renewable energy in the form of electric motor and solar power for propulsion and cost only ₹6 lakh to build. #India #bus #driverless #innovation #technology #punjab #jalandhar
    ये बस बिना ड्राइवर के चलती है और बिना पेट्रोल के भी। #OMGIndia #OMGSeason9

Relying on gps is not great. There is a lag in signals. By the time the command reaches the bus to do something, it may have already done that something. This is why the bus goes very slowly I think so it can react to signals. Good effort but commercial utility is not there yet.

Have you ever thought if the entire country like India starts using the EVs, how many folds would the land pollution will multiply. We have EVs but honestly aaj bhi battery disposition mei jugaad hi chal raha hai wo be Lead acid battery mei, which is deadly poisonous both for Air as well as land. Phir bhi hamari govt FAME-1 scheme mei any battery including lead acid battery per subsidy diye, as if they weren't aware. bull shit, their ministers tied up with industrialist for mutual benefit.
