It's interesting how they used the voice actors from the Madagascar video games for this ride. Nice to hear Danny Jacobs voicing Julien!
They use the video game VAs for the theme park rides, with the exception of Alex, who in "Mad Pursuit" is voiced by Crispin Freeman, his VA from the other games and "All Hail King Julien".

Yes you're correct. The ride is lowly descending. The ride is created to be slightly tilted by a few degrees, so they spend less money on jets and or the technology to be pushing boats around. They allow gravity to do its job by ascending the water and the boat slowly where they really need only a few jets or things to push the boat forward being more cost efficient. It would of been awesome to have a drop but they failed to do so.

When it comes to adapting a film into a theme park attraction, the designers should try to simulate what the viewers of the film would want to do while watching the film, for example Peter Pan's flight has guests flying over London, Madagascar is about adventure and exploration and having fun and energy, this ride lacks energy, some parts have guests simply watch scenes of the movie again. Scenes were not dense enough and the lighting was off, Some placements of props were in bad places also, and it's very slow and boring, unlike the movie.
I was thinking the same thing. This ride was WAYY too long! They definitely should have cut out a majority of the scenes. Most disney dark rides only last around 3 minutes for a reason! They also go quickly and have lots of energy! Even splash mountain, which is the same type of ride, has much more energy than this. I couldn't even watch this whole thing so boring! they really needed to pick key scenes and not try to show all the scenes of the movie. Also the scenes were so wide physically, why did they need to make it so big? Also no drops or anything! Definitely think they could have added lots of thrills! also could have probably afforded better animatronics if they cut out a lot of the unnecessary scenes.

Madagascar would be a great IP for Universal Studios Orlando to use for a family water attraction, something similar to Splash Mountain, only on a slightly smaller scale

I think we need a Secret Life of Pets version of Rockn Roller Coaster to replace Shrek 4D, just no Aerosmith theming. Instead of being late for a concert, you try to escape the animal control and also instead of rushing through Los Angeles, you go through New York City landmarks. And the trains will be just like the super stretch limos but will be painted to be like a old fashioned taxi. And you get a different pet, and different music. I also think a realistic moving Snowball animatronic for the rides preshow and I think it could be sponsored by PetSmart. Like the idea.

Such a great ride! I wish Universal Studios Orlando could get a ride like this to replace their dated Kidzone area. Madagascar is such an underutilized mega franchise they own and it doesn’t even have a presence in any of the United States parks!
It’s weird because I feel like some effort was put into decorations and practical effects but the plot/storyline is all over the place, and the voice acting is ROUGH, especially Alex’s? And the lighting is SO off in some places. It’s WAY too dark in “happy” areas, and weirdly red hued, which makes you think you’re supposed to be in a “creepy” part. And the fact that there’s lift hills but not even so much as a slight decline, let alone a drop? And the animatronics look .... ehhh... okay? But the movements are awful, just nonexistent.
Then you have things like the Fusa (sp?) head cave, the waterfalls, and the ship crashing scene that impress me. It’s like the team behind this ride was split in half wifi one half fighting to make it awful out of spite and the other half desperately trying to make a good ride.
The box moving effecting in the beginning was nice but i wish they did more of it. The annimtronics were just awful when it came it to the voice acting. It was off that it really bothered me. Even my man melman cannot even be called an animatronic.

This is a cute ride, they need to add it to one of the US based Universal parks. Not as a replacement for another ride but in addition to what is already there. It kind of reminds me a bit of Disney's it's a small world except with animals instead of people.
That was so sad, this ride is replaced by Minion land :( with the main ride named "Depicable me Minion Mayhem" with 4D cinema

Just because a ride is geared more towards kids doesn't mean adult's can't critique it. A kids ride can still have imaginative and impressive scenes. And if you don't believe me, ever heard of Pooh's Hunny Hunt?

This is the longest ride ever! At Disneyland the wait is more long then the ride itself. We went for the Frozen ride and it was very short. But i still enjoy it even tho it was not worth the wait..

let me tell you there was a time when I rode this with my sisters and it was around closing time cuz we arrived late and it was pre-coviod when we had passes and all that, it was scary riding it with just the three of us during the long straight part like holy moley I didn't expect this ride to give me the chills

This ride isn’t very exciting, but it’s good with props good colors and kinda sets the mood for the whole movie. I kinda wish the animatronics where more smooth and not jerky. But other than that it’s an okay ride. 4/10

Well, they're not great at making animatronics, but they are pretty good with sets and stationary characters. The movement is pretty clumsy but the visual designs are great.
This ride is just 8 minutes of teasing a drop and never going through with it.

That's not what people are complaining about. They feel that it doesn't stand up to other dark rides of it's type in terms of animatronic movement quality and story telling. That said I don't see how it's as bad as people are saying either. I think it was pretty cute.

If this is supposed to be a "Small World" type ride, they needed a catchy tune (the movie had that) and hundreds of little jungle creatures. The great thing about "It's a small World" is that there is something going in every corner and it captures people's imagination. This is just a series of sparse animatronics...
Yeah they honestly could have had the whole song "I like to move it move it" playing with the animatronics dancing to the song throughout different rooms of the ride for 3 minutes. Short and to the point. There was no reason for this ride to be this long or boring.

I rather see animatronics than screens ngl. Which is why this ride isn’t all that bad. Although I believe this ride could have been executed better if they used the second movie instead of the first one. You would be able to see all those animals and the beautiful landscapes of Africa. You could even have the scene in the battle arena where Alex has to fight against the other lion or the scene where Melman is about to sacrifice to the volcano. Idk these are just ideas and yes it would be a bit more expensive but the pay of would be worth it and the whole ride overall would be more exciting due to the scenes being exciting.
Wish they had this ride at Universal Florida
In the peak of summer, on the Singapore independence day (everyone had the day off) I was in this park and there was no queue. Every other ride had at least a 20 minute queue
I remember this as my first ride in Universal Studio Singapore a few years ago and it terrifies me for no reason and looking back now, it looks rather tamed (I was a coward...)
