Excellent batteur , breaks très modernes , j'aime particulièrement un ostinato rythmique vers la fin qui donne un effet 6/8 , effet de décalage mesuré et calculé sur 4/4 mais en réalité on retombe sur le 1r temps au bout de la séquence , combinaisons très employées par le fameux Simon Phillips , la technique de Martin Grubinger est impressionnante ainsi que son plaisir communicatif.

Hell, you didn‘t get an answer after a year?
It‘s a 6-string bass guitar, 1 extra low and 1 extra high strings added to the usual 4. You might listen to Animals As Leaders, 2 guitarists playing 8-string guitars, 2 extra low strings (to the usual 6). If you have halfway decent listening gear, you can hear the difference. (Another mysterious thing is „drop D tuning“, where each string of a guitar is tuned a whole key lower, doesn’t seem much, but adds some decent bonk.)
Okay, now you‘re set. Get a Yamaha Pacifica 112 and a cute lil amp for xmas and take over the world.

i love you for recommending AAL. More people need to hear this band. I'd recommend "CAFO" "On impulse" or"Odessa" as first songs to start. Actually his first two albums are so goddamn versatile. Almost any song sounds as an emotional revelation. Love Tosin Abasi to bits.

the bassist plays the bass in a percussive way - so called "slap bass technique". Typical for Flea (bassist of the Red hot CHily Peppers) or Primus' Bassist Les Claypool like in these songs:

And I'm not sure if there's some slap giong on here, cause i don't hear the typical plucking but sure sounds like a lot of thumb work, a lot of so called "dead notes" (guitar strings plucked while muted for a percussive effect) on this song by Les Claypool (warning it's an uncensored bass guitar pornography):
