I dont know why people are asking why she's dressed like a clown? The show was called "Tears of a Clown" and she said herself that Clowns are very heartbroken people because they try so hard to make you laugh and they want you to be happy but on the inside they could be sad and broken. I think what she's wearing goes perfectly well with the whole theme of the show and especially here where she starts to cry about Rocco. She must be very heart broken yet she goes on stage every other night to perform for her fans with a smile on her face...

I hardly ever cry but this performance got me. So beautiful and heartfelt, I truly hope her and Rocco can resolve their issues.

People can say whatever they want about Madonna. They can criticize her, they can say she can't sing or doesn't have a good voice, but they can't say Madonna isn't a real artist. The voice or the technique was never Madonna's strongest point - although it's still pretty good and decent, but there's this thing that most of the singers from singing competitions or many singers now-a-days doesn't have: artistic expression. That's what makes her different from most of the current artists who are on the mainstream media, her voice and feelings can touch us and makes us believe her. For me she's one of the greatest artists who have ever existed on the popular culture.

This is a beautiful performance.
I think this moment is referenced, vaguely and indirectly, in her Celebration Tour. She always desider her mother, and when she was a mother herself to give her best to her children. Then, with Rocco in this moment, she tought she failed. All her perfectionism came from her sadness, and all those tears she had to liberate in form of this show, Tears of a Clown. The Erotica segment in her Celebration ends with Bad Girl, giving, as always, new meaning to that song. Instead of failing to a lover, she sang about failing to her children, her most deared, the ones that were with her in another crucial moment for her in 2023 when she dared another of her most fears: Death. For me, the Celebration Tour is a encouragement of her artistic decisions in her work, more than a only chronological order of her history. Moments of her past are still a topic of her contemporary interest of work (the death of her mother, surfacing in the "2000" segment, which references for me her most spiritual side). The same as her Bad Girl at the end of the "90s". Her defiantly decisions about sex, actually made a "punish" for her, for what im understandig, from her child Rocco around the Tears of a Clown time. Thats how she ends that segment in her show, not only 90s, but these themes in her life.

Interesting that this song is probably written with Guy in mind, now applies to the son. American Life is one of those albums that wasn't fairly appreciated at the time, but really has turned out to be one of her best, most artistic albums.
