Yeah, something like this. I think it would be more along the lines of him dismantling the Empire slowly getting rid of the Moffs so as few as possible would die in the transition back to the republic.

Few knew Vader was actually Anakin. Just give him a different suit, respirator and voice box and he'll be good. a good bacta bath cures everything.
Claiming he's Anakin Skywalker, a personal prisoner of the evil emperor all these years, where even Darth Vader thought he had killed him, would certainly be true-from a certain point of view. $:^ J
Or he could take command of the empire and resolve it into a republic and step down, accepting a lighter sentence as long as he aids in destroyer imperial remnants
I see him exiling himself to life of solitude and introspection, sort of like what they (stupidly) had Luke do in TLJ. Disconnecting himself from The Force, and leading a quiet monk life as the actual last real Jedi.
This would be a isolation who would actually make sense instead of Luke one

The roleplaying source books aren't even cannon to the EU lol.
The suit was keeping him alive, yes, but Vader could also exist outside the suit in a bacta tank and often did so for meditation.
There was no dependency on a venom.
@@priestesslucy3299 As I recall, those books didn't create anything new. All they did was provide systems to explain how things work, i.e. calling on the force, orbalisk armor, etc. They did have short summaries of EU events and backstories, which was nice.
Imagine they went all midevil and had an execution on Coruscant on the steps of the old Jedi temple. They take him out of his suit and just kill him by leaving him to suffocate in front of thousands. Nah that wouldn’t happen haha but it’d be wild.

Wrong. He would hide at Dagobah or any other place for some time while Luke makes arrangements to secretly build a new (unrecognisable) armor for Anakin. After it's done nobody would know it's former Vader and not just a tall android or other new character. Like Obi-Wan became "Ben", Anakin would become "uncle Bob" or smth :) piece a cake.

I mean, if Palpatine returned why not Vader? Lol, I really wouldn’t have minded a force ghost interaction of Anakin and Luke in the sequel trilogy. Especially since Luke had those feelings of failure with Ben Solo, and Anakin would’ve had some interesting thoughts or advice for him. Imagine Anakin telling Luke there’s always hope that one lost to the dark could return to the light!!! Coming from him it would’ve been so good… Felt like a missed opportunity to me, I guess we did get a Han Solo vision to Kylo Ren (but I didn’t really care).

Ultimately, at this point, Anakin was a dead man regardless. If he hadn’t died by Palpatine’s lightning, it’s extremely likely he’d either be executed by the New Republic or hunted down and assassinated. Despite his noble act on the Death Star and his remorse, there’d simply be no erasing Anakin’s past.
When Revan returned to the light, he was rehabilitated and had his memory (shoddily) wiped. I think it's a possibility that the new Republic would have done the same for anakin

He wouldn’t be able to be punished seeing as he was technically just following the law. From the emperor and the senate was barely in tact but it was there, they would have no proof that they were forced to vote for things so Vader would likely get off Scot free

I wondered what would've happened if the Death Star destroyed Yavin instead of trying to destroy it's fourth moon. In my mind the jovian world would go nova. When they see this event the rebels try to escape before the shock wave reaches them. The Empire's fleet does it's best to capture or destroy the escapees. The attack on the Death Star would be aborted as the Rebels ran away to try plan b, c, d, or anything else. This could all but destroy the rebellion with those supporters on the fence about the civil war pulling their support. This may mean the flaw in the DS is never found but who would exploit it?
