  • It really was, an adventure to remember with people never to be forgotten.
    Despite some people saying what was the point of saving a hut at the bottom of the world that no one gets to see, the fact is that a few people do get to see it, and it can be the highlight of their adventure to the Sub-Antarctic. And without saving it, they, and future generations would not have the option to hear the story of the coast watchers, and see where and how they lived for five years.
    But what made it so special, was working on a common worthwhile cause with a great bunch of like minded people, striving to make the most out of the everyday situation no matter what it was. Working in the rain and mud and cold, and singing and dancing with music pumping, brilliant.
    A special acknowledgment goes to John Ball, who without his vision, financial commitment and with the support of DOC, this project would just not have happened.
