And you know it's the wrong way round
Still you can't say no
Ever playing upon your mind
And you won't say why
(So shut up!)
Unless you're ready to leave it
(Or make up your mind)
But you need it so much
(Do you really believe in it?)
Yes I do
From time to time
In the end
You dig yourself the hole you're in
When you don't know what you want
You just repeat yourself again
In the end
You just repeat yourself again
When you don't know who you are
You dig yourself the hole you're in
(Don't worry)
It's only in your mind
(Don't worry)
But I do
From time to time
You just repeat yourself again
(Don't worry)
You just repeat yourself again
(Don't worry)
You just repeat yourself again again again again again
Still it's the wrong way round
And you won't say no
Ever playing upon your mind
But you won't say why
(So shut up!)
Unless you're ready to leave it
(Or make up your mind)
But you need it so much
(Do you really believe in it?)
Yes I do, I do, this time
In the end
You dig yourself the hole you're in
When you don't know what you want
You just repeat yourself again
In the end
You just repeat yourself again
When you don't know who you are
You dig yourself the hole you're in - Hudba
How does a song THIS GOOD not make it on the album??
It should've been this instead of I Feel Better imo
I KNOW.
@@CRVIG or smoke and mirrors. The weird hit-piece on his mother feels out of place even when nothing feels in place.
Let’s be honest, no one gave a damn about any other song after they heard Somebody... I only bought this album because I loved Like Drawing Blood. Both are exceptional.
You hear the ‘don’t worry’ bit at the end of Giving Me A Chance
A song I would love to listen to while driving at night.
the single greatest moment of my life as a hipster was when i could say i liked gotye before he was famous....fuck ye....
Yo what's up
@@DeSmoSmusic prolly overdosed on ketamine 7 years ago lol
@@SDSypher hahahaha dude that’s dark but most likely true
Music is like wine, the older it gets, the better it will be.
the song says that you are the one to ''dig your own hole'' and choose the way you wanna live. You decide your future by the ways you act and when you ''don't know who you are'' and ''what to do'', ''you just repeat yourself again'',so when you're not sure of something you just do what you you do every time, building the image that people identify in you.
Solitude is addictive...
this reminds me of "this must be the place" by Talking Heads!!!
Wish this was on Spotify I miss him making music so creative and out of this world we definitely need it and more of him
Tis thee keyboard and drums at the beginning that definitely give that vibe.
indeed
Gotye,,, This is such an awesome breath of fresh air on the music-scape... I can relate to the style so well! excellent!
OMG, this is one of the best songs I have ever heard.
My wife is infatuated by the sounds of Gotye. I can say I was a big fan long before her infatuation and I am stoked we can now share the brilliance of such an amazing artist. I wish you every success with this album and hope you continue producing fantastic music. Thank you for putting your craft out into our beautiful world.
As Gothye said, "Someone..." is "just the top of the iceberg " of his creation. Absolutely incredible by his creativity !!!!
The live version of this was AMAZING!
I still love listening to this song. Just gets me going.
Wally, this is Brilliant...many thanks for your perseverance in the early years...it has meant we could ALL enjoy your musical genius today...May your Star continue to Rise and Shine...all the best with the Album...I bought #303 in Vinyl as a gift....!!...we are looking forward to playing it....
I'm back to listen to this song again! 😊
This is Fecking AWESOME!!! Love it Wally! You have such a wonderful voice! It just resonates thru us! X
i cant express how awesome this song is.....
Can't wait to see the filmclip-will there be one?? oh so hoping there WILL be!!
This is just amazing... I really love the meaning and the rhythm of the song!
This song and the sounds on it... are just glorious!
I think Gotye deserves to get paid for the music he has made.
This is lovely.
Went to two of his concerts in florida...one today in orlando and yesturday in miami...this was my favorite song
This is one of my favorite songs.
I believe it was initially slated for Making Mirrors but got cut for some reason. I'm uber-thankful to find it here! But I think it ought to have made it to the album--excellent piece!
Oh my god, it started and my 80's heart leapt into an interpretive dance instantly. Balls!!! I need the song now!
WOW the sounds of the 80's have looped back around, he says it" just repeat yourself again"
This is like a combo of XTC and Animal Collective IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE. Love, Love, Love.
j'adore gotye ,je ne connaissais pas celle là ...merci pour le post !!
This is so good
@DesmondElBrando It's not about who knew about him when, it's that we have all discovered him, and he is amazing.
brilliant tune
Simply amazing
Just got in to this guy....damn love it....nice to see talent
fantastic song!!
great song!
i could listen to this all day!!!
God hearing all of his stuff live...it brings a tear to my eye...god I miss gotye...
So good music
This song is simply amazing! ❤
Wow! We've all been missing out. This music is great.
Fantastic....make me fly
So Syntheszied!!! LOVE IT!
I've just found Goyte..amazing artist...Somebody that I used to know...wow and now finding all these other delicious sounds. What a feast.
tout simplement géniale !!!!!!!
"somebody that i used to know" was the first song i've ever heard from him, but i'm checking out his other songs, too. i really like his style
Someone wrote "thumbs up if you knew who Gotye was before...." The next step is wide critical acclaim, and then, almost in the same breath, "Well, I was listening to him when all he had was a drum kit made from pots, pans & trashcans. He USED to be good." As long as an artist is obscure, he's hip; once he gets big, he loses that exclusive, cult feel, and many of the earliest fans become critics. I hope that doesn't happen here. This guy is clearly pushing boundaries. He will grow and change.
Amazing track.
Love it.
the words are so true in this song
amazing.. fits my life exactly!
and that bass is beautiful.
I know I was at his concert in Denver August 22 and what a glorious day was that! I sat in the 8th row
Amazing!
@BananaAnanaBread It's a radio station in Adelaide, Australia, mate.
this one seriously reminds me of sting, though im not a huge sting fan, everything gotye touches is gold.
I am completely convinced now that Gotye could take absolutely ANY genre of music and make it amazing. Genius.
This is so Genisis. It makes me happy like I was 5 years old in 1995 again. Thank you :)
My My...what a charming piece of humanity you turned out to be - Not all people have english as their first language
It's...Beautiful
@barbeb I second everything you just said. Including the double-show-attendance. Nice one, bro.
All I can say is I am so sorry I didn't know about him till just recently! I am a fan!
I spent about 20 minutes jumping and dancing around like a loon to this song. Absolutely glorious.
I"m not sure if someone else has pointed this out, but the "DON'T WORRY" at 2:10 was sampled and used at the end of "Giving Me A Chance" on the album version. How cool of a reference!
this is real good
You sound like me a few days ago. The concert is BRILLIANT, and just think-you are in the same room as Gotye, Wally de Backer, musical genius for the ages!
awesome track, im so glad i got the limited edition album (:
Just one word: awesome!
I kick myself a little for not learning about Gotye earlier... But at the same time, I'm so grateful I found him regardless. Such fantastic, uplifting, feel-good music that goes straight for the soul.
I can only hope he keeps up this fantastic style he has after "Somebody" took off...I'd hate it if the media got to him. :(
Wow, this songs just became one of my favourite :D
You are right...I did see in an interview where he talks about he loves Prince's music.
I love you Gotye
every time i listen to this song i feel its really original
THIS IS LEGIT HIS BEST SONG EVER. MY FAVE SO FAR
this is music!!!
How many other bonus tracks are there? I have the sombrero one :)
I suck for replying without the link but I would just order the album from his website or something of the sort. That's what I'm doing ^-^
*Super excited about it too!
My favorite
I saw an audio post on tumblr that used this song, I had no idea that it was Gotye at first. When I found out it was him, I was shocked! I'm not a big fan of his songs, but Dig Your Own Hole really blew me away.
What a delicious song. Why does it ever have to end?
It was. It's the B-Side to the Easy Way Out single. No idea why it's not on the album though!
Another reason to lament the demise of my last ipod. *sigh*
This song would most def be on repeat!
You listen once . twice or maybe more - you can lose the lyrics and voice and hear just the music - That is worth it!
ARTIST of 2012
I just discovered this about an hour ago, and find it very, very compelling. I'm hearing the Police, Peter Gabrial, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Nine Inch Nails, and a half dozen other influences that I can't put my finger on, but this isn't derivative -- reminds me of Beck in that regard, or QuintenTarantino. I'm not ready to use the word "genius" but give me time and I just might.
I like the album covers! :)
I love this song..........and it makes me feel like wearing leg warmers and dancing like they do in exercise videos
love his music ,, brought the smoke and mirrors cd , played all the time in the car :))
Well he just reflects his musical talent on it, it's kind of like he's making mirrors.
Gotye is musical glory
glorious... just as Mr De Backer can do it
This is good :)
Great composer.
There should be a law that all Gotye songs have an awesome vid created for them ... approved by the great man himself of course. And this should so have been on the album !!! Hell it shoulda been an album of say 30, 40 or even 50 songs.
But you are here and that is what it matters. I discovered Gotye a week ago, by accident change a channel and heard Phillip Phillips singing U got it Bad on AI, I liked his voice so I searched for more songs sang by him, that's how I discovered his version of 'somebody...' after a couple of days I decided to give a chance to the original singer.... HE BLOW MY MIND... it's the only thing I'm listening right now, I can stop, it's addictiv, I really thanks to my curiosity
How come I can't find this song in iTunes? I WANT IT SOO BADLY!!! AMAZING TALENT!!!!
I think the spirit of the 80's is making a comeback.
addicted!!!
genius, saw him in concert and this guy has ridic talent
