I listened to Chris on radio 1 and still listen to him on radio x but had forgotten the younger years 🤣 This has brought back so many memories. So weird hearing Dom just on the news though! He makes the show with Chris now. Think radio x shows are the best he’s done. They don’t get the praise they deserve. He really knows his craft, his talent is so underrated
Does anyone else remember Fat Chris on the evening bit on the station Signal 1 in the Stoke on Trent/Stafford area around 1994/1995, he created a boy band called Ghetto Life which was pretty funny at the time, he also had a character called Wahay Man again pretty funny, I remember thinking at the time this guys going all the way as a DJ and he pretty much did.
@@RandoRobbo87 No m8 he definitely started it on Signal 1, he was fired shortly after for saying something inappropriate I don't recall what it was, he did take the whole Ghetto Life thing to Radio 1 when they hired him.
And wahay man has probably been used by several, I specifically remember the wahay man on Chris's show as Take Thats Back for Good was no 1, wahay man would follow the the medley of the song and say wahay for every word, it was pretty funny at the time.
It is the first time I have ever really heard Victoria Beckham being herself, talking with a friend and she was lovely, you can see why David picked her.
It wasn't the reason,Jon. The BBC Trust said the average age of Radio 1 listeners was too old at the time and wanted change - which meant Chris had to go. So it was down to Chris' former producer on early breakfast and the then head of Radio 1,Ben Cooper,to do the neccassary,and so Chris was replaced by Nick Grimshaw in September 2012. Chris got offered Peel's old 10pm-12am slot but wanted drivetime back,so declined and left when he finished breakfast.
it's because now the news is broadcasted on radio 1, radio 1 xtra & BBC Asiian Network so it would not make sense if you r listening to radio 1 xtra and u just hear some weirdo on radio 1 commentating over the news where as back then it was just broadcasted radio 1
Best DJ and jingles around. Only Jordan north has come close to matching his fun. Greg is great but not Chris. I hope Dave and Chris can make up and do one last show

You're mixing up a few different eras there. Ghetto Life was on the R1 afternoon show. Wahay Man was Keith Chegwin iirc.
