I saw this fight in person and later talked to Hagler about it when I met him at the boxing hall of fame in NY. Briscoe was well past his prime when he fought Hagler, but he is a legend in Philadelphia. Had Hagler wanted to he would have ruined Briscoe. He gave Briscoe the opportunity to make some good money in front of his adoring fans. The most important thing Hagler did was let Briscoe leave with his dignity. I thanked Hagler for that.
I heard that the spectrum was sold out. two tough fighters.they both had class in and out of the ring.benny was a bit past his prime. philly had the top middleweights and Hagler went to ther town and beat them all.the spectrum was to philly what the Olympic auditorium was to us in los Angeles California. I have alot of respect for philly. in LA is the only place were the winos on skid row Bob and weave when they fight in the alleys. .
He wasn't running, he was boxing and occasionally backpedalling with speed. Marvin often boxed this way with bruisers (see Mugabi fight). Then he'd come crashing in with that power jab and follow it up w power shots. Marvin understood tempo, timing, and defense. Briscoe was an animal you had to treat with severe caution.
sounds like you know what you are talking about. Hagler did not run .he kept him at the distance. he yousd angel's and he went to southpaw when he had to .benny Brisco was a bit older nevertheless he tryd hard .rest in peace benny Brisco.
BB was a local hero, and it was hard seeing him lose. Somehow it seems like he passed the torch to MH, who went on to become a great champion. Two great warriors.
Two of the baddest dudes ever right here. Great fight. Hagler won it well but Briscoe put him through hell. Damn that Briscoe was a menacing son of a bitch. One scary dude.
Debes informarte mejor y no fanatisarte.

Hagler didn't want to hurt Brisco. Instead he used his skills to spar along the ring and let the old Philadelphia legend get a good pay day and everyone went home happy. RIP Champ.
Hagler unknockable, he destroyed Mugaby and Hearn, Hearn ko Pipino cuevas and Duran and thirty plus more, Hearn almost took out an eye from Leonard and knockdown him two time in his prime.

The mark of a great fighter, being able to adjust for the opponent.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler! One of the greats!
Briscoe's not in the IBHOF?! Wow...I'm surprised. He was a legendary tough man.

“Briscoe has the star of David on it, Hagler has a beard”

he's chasing marvin around the ring, that's tough
Like Bill Lawlor commented, looked like Hagler was pulling his shots.
