Thanks for your kind words regarding Utah.
Our pleasure! Great area to explore!😀
Dust devils! I will never forget the time in AZ a devil took a port a potty and turned it over-with a Girl Scout inside. Thankfully, we were close enough to home for her to go home and clean up.
Whoa CRAZY!😳
You are such trusting people. I wouldn't leave anything! I don't trust anyone on the road. Especially with those wind gusts, you could lose your stuff anyway. What happens if your plans change and don't go back for longer than you anticipated? You two are genuinely nice people, so it's hard to believe that other people are not as worthy of the same trust. I'm glad it worked out, but man, that was a big gamble.Dinner looked AMAZING!! Never had goat cheese, but may have to try it. Great Video!
We didn't even think about the wind gusts! It was pretty calm during our stay but we did stake down one corner of the mat and those chars do blow around easy if they are sitting up! Thanks so much for watching and the nice compliment! 😃
Yes, please visit Dead Horse State Park and Canyonlands...we enjoyed the locations more than the Grand Canyon! Thank you for sharing your adventures!
We made it to Canyonlands, but will have to save Dead Horse for next time in Moab. We'll be back for sure! Thanks for watching!
The city market is also very friendly to RVers. Just ask the manager, and they usually allow overnight stays in their parking lot. The municipal pool in town is a great spot to cool off, too!!! Love Moab!!
Good to know for next time. Thanks! 😊🙏
Great video! Glad you showed the problem with the black tank clogging. I’m trying to learn as much as possible before buying my own rig.
Thanks! We are learning as well! No problems since that time.... so I think we are getting the "ratio" down! Also, using a little extra Camco TST black tank juice helps a ton.
Maverick is owned by Chuck Norris. So clean and awesome safe spots. 💜🌵
That's crazy! 👊🌟 Learn something new every day!
Yes, take advantage of having fresh produce. Of course in the summer you can find fresh produce at a farmer’s market, but the growing season is short so that’s not an option the majority of the year.
Farmers markets are the best!
Great video. Thanks for tips on Mavericks and the ups and downs on black tanks. We off roaded in Moab in 2016 and loved Quesadilla Mobilla. My family still craves it and so glad to know they are still cooking up good food.
Fun! We want to do some off roading when we go back to see a bit more of the back country too! Thanks for watching!
I just discovered that Airstream has a Interstate 19 shorty. Are you guys aware of it? It appears to be perfect for a one person camper/traveler. What I don’t know about it is if it has the same boondocking abilities that you guys are doing? The one thing that appeals to me is how small it is to be able to park it easier in cities.
We did get a chance to sit in a 2020 nineteen but didn't have time to record it. I really did like it, but you're right it is definitely suited for a solo traveler over a pair. But, yes, very nimbal and easier to drive and park! The tanks are going to be smaller and the carrying capacity will also be less then the Interstate.... but if it's for one person that helps. Keep in mind most RV's will need an electrical system upgrade to be off-grid for long periods of time. That is without running the generator. All the Airstream touring coaches have an onboard generator. We upgraded ours to a lithium battery if you haven't seen it yet. czcams.com/video/qIANRToD-vU/video.html
Irene Iron Fitness Thank you for your quick and honest response. I really appreciate your time in responding to my questions. Enjoy your travels.
No problem. We did the same thing researching this lifestyle for almost 2 years. Watched a lot of CZcams to try and get a real sense of what it would be like and we hope people get that same sense from watching our videos as well. Thanks!
Somebody's getting hooked om boondocking... Happy anniversary!
Thanks! Yessssss, it is addicting!😃
Use some exercise weights and zip ties on the outside chairs, I use them on my tri-pod. Dewalt makes a mini blower to blow the dirt out. Forget the tent, invest in a Giraffe screen room.
Once our black water tank did just as yours did, we solved that by getting a step on lid trash can and kept a plastic bag it it, and deposited the toilet paper in that and zipped the bag shut and the lid went back down on the trash can,so no smell and no mess in the blank tank,
That's a good tip 👍 . Thank you!
11 Years on the road, never had a theft.....safe travels!
That's reassuring to hear! It really is a good community for the most part...safe travels also!😃
THANK YOU - awesome video! I am so going to be cooking once and eating multiple times - very smart! We were in Moab a few weeks ago but ended up at a terrible camp ground and things just were not working right but it didn’t deter us - we are gonna keep on keepin on!
Noelle
Sometimes we run into those situations where everything seems to go wrong...it makes you appreciate the days where everything runs smooth!
I was glad to see how you handled the pork that didn’t want to shred. I’ve run into that problem with chicken and never know what to do . . . Get the scissors out!! Thanks! P.S. Love your videos!!
Yes! 😊 Thanks for watching them!
Happy anniversary! What a gorgeous spot. I'm glad your social experiment was successful. ~carol
Thanks Guys!
Another great video! Have you guys ever experienced a desert haboob/monsoon? It’s crazy! Stay safe and thanks for sharing your adventures!
Thanks! No, we haven't... had to google it. Looks a lot bigger and scarier than a little dust devil! Not sure I want to experience one!😱
Happy anniversary! 🎉 Great place to boondock. A question - are you concerned about the safety in a remote place like this? How do you protect yourselves from danger?
Thank you! Generally speaking it will be "safer" out in the middle of no where than it will be in big cities near people. But, I am always on alert in new places no matter what, because you just never know. If the area doesn't feel right for any reason... we just move on. We consider this van our home and protect it( and each other ) the same way we would a regular house. This is a good topic for a video and will consider doing. Thanks for watching!
In Reno, Nevada, those whirly winds are called a Washoe Zephyr. Safe travels!
How cool! We have never seen these crazy things in the Midwest growing up and that's part of the reason why we are out seeing this beautiful country!
Beautiful area to Boondock! Love Utah! :)
Us too! Thanks for watching!
Haha. I am STILL here for the accents !! I cannot wait to head to Moab.
😂 Moab was awesome... our first time and we didn't get to see enough. We can't wait to head back also!
@@IreneIronTravels There is a non-hookup camping section along the river as well. Id love a chance at that. I have a LTV but looking for something with lithium and ground clearance. One day !
We love that dang quesadilla truck too. Always stop there are least twice when we are in Moab. ❤ We also recommend the Wicked Brew if you are into fancy coffee.
🌮🌮🌮 We saw Wicked Brew, but didn't go in. Next time for sure!
Great Video !! We love Moab and have spent quite a bit of time there. Looks like 7k virtual celebration is almost here🎆🎉🍾
Thanks Sel! We now can see why everyone LOVES Moab! Nice close getaway for you guys too!😃
Think out of the 'box'...the rv ice box. :)
😃
You should make a sign and laminated and place on a stake to have in the future
That's a good idea! Thanks for watching!
Hmmm…I always had a issue with cooking anything in plastic…I think plastics release various chemicals and probably more so with heat, even if they say ‘food safe’…just saying.
Enjoyed the vid - interesting, fun, and scenic.
Agreed..... not something we'd like to use daily. Just experimenting with the thermal cooker. Thanks for watching!😀
Question: are you guys able to take showers everyday with the size of your tank?
We take a shower every other day to last a week boondocking. As it's getting hotter we are thinking🌞 about uping our extra water bags from 6 gallons to 10 gallons to help out. Our fresh tank is 26 g.
Great video. We always enjoy watching. Aaron, when you talk to us, are you able to sometimes turn the camera to face you? :)
Hello, thanks! Yes, I try to do that more...... not sure where I picked up that habit(small filming van space maybe), but it also makes it a pain while editing because the audio between Chris and I are are different levels. I'm on it! Thanks for watching!
I think that's why I started it doing it more. With my bean head and Chris's beautiful face in frame you can't see much else!😂😅😂
👍😃
Hi, I met a tumble weed once, taciturn fella as he rolled on by 🙃.
Hello! Too Funny😂😂
Hope you're having a great labor day weekend you guys from AZ, do you guys know a town called Paradise Valley?
Hello, thanks you too! I haven't heard of it and just looked it up. Looks like it's right by Scottsdale?..... We might have driven though as we spent a week around the Phoenix area.
Why doesn’t Airstream do this on all their units from the factory? As a rep for them, you would think they would listen to you and notice what you have done. They claim to be on the cutting edge but they are so old school.....
I can only assume, but I would guess their customer base a hasn't supported the move quite yet. BUT, it seems there is a big shift coming, where more people want to get out of the RV parks and out into nature a bit more. I am excited and also hopeful for big changes coming in the next years! Thanks for watching Bob!
Please tell me about the dumbbells? Where can you obtain what is the range of weight? Thanks in advance. .
Our DB's are 75lbs apiece and are a Hoist brand. We love them! They don't make that anymore ( we found ours used on craigslist) , but Ironmaster makes a similar version. Ironmaster 75 lb Quick-Lock Adjustable Dumbbell System: amzn.to/380Inbn
@@IreneIronTravels Mucho Gracias! I wore out a pair of power blocks need to replace them.
What kind of cooker did you use for carnitas?
It is a thermal cooker we have been playing around with. Here is a more in depth vid we did on it. czcams.com/video/Tqi7-C2J86A/video.html
Thanks for watching!
I want to see someone film a black tank flush. I am a newbie and want to see want it's all about.
Hello! I don't think we have ever recorded anything on the black flush, but most RV's have them built in and it is basically a threaded hose port on the outside of the RV were you hook up a garden hose and it pushes water through piping into the black tank. There are then nozzles inside the tank that spray water and "clean" the black tank. Then just flush the water out and repeat if necessary! Nice to have!
Hello, you mentioned you lost your dome tent, how did that happen?
I have been looking for a "add on" tent or extension tent that will attach to the sliding door and/or underneath the roll out awning. The idea is to extend the area outside sliding door. Have you come across anything similar online? Thank you
Hello! We sold our 5 sided clam tent do to the storage space we lost after installing our new electrical system. We have seen something like what you are describing from Kampa. They are an European company bought by Dometic that has a series of air tents that attach to RV's. They are expensive but pretty cool. www.dometic.com/en-us/us/products/climate/rv-awnings/campervan-awnings
@@IreneIronTravels cool. I will check them out!
You should get a Hunting camera for the 'Social Experiments'.
Not a bad idea! We do have a Wifi cam for the inside and that definitely makes us feel a little better while away from our van. I think I'm also going to look into an exterior wifi cam.
Ugh! The dreaded poop pyramid 😜
Happy Anniversary 🎉
I know you probably did and I didn’t see...but wear gloves when pumping gas I use plastics grocery bags (then throw away).
ATM’s and gas pumps gotta be careful.
*okay MOM* 🤣
Safe Travels
Take Care ~
Ahhhhhh!💩 We have graduated! 😂
Thanks for the Anniversary wishes!
And yes, I was using a sani wipe to not touch the handle. It's getting worse in a lot of states out here! TY, Good tip on the grocery bags!
How does your rig hold up on those BLM roads and what tires do you have?
Pretty good....no problems thus far! Well... maybe one wire shaking lose on our solar controller... but I can't verify it was just BLM roads and not general travel. More on that in a upcoming video. We just drive verrrrrrryyyyyy slow as some of the roads can be pretty bad and try to keep it as short distance as possible. Our tires are a Goodyear Duratrac AT and we like them. Starting to get a little loud on the HWY after 24k miles though.
Do you know remember the location? . Love watching you guys.
Thanks! There should be a link to the location we stayed at in the description of this video. And also the other boondocking videos in this series, we included links to places we showed. Thanks so much for watching!
Looks like a great area. GPS of the area you were camped in? I plan on traveling that direction in the fall. thank you
Yes it was! www.campendium.com/blm-144
@@IreneIronTravels thank you.... I missed that. I have watched many videos over the years. I thought you pointed out some really good reminders. thank you
Thanks! Appreciate you watching!😃
Just got here. I saw it!!
😍
What did you see?
Curious, did you guys consider a travel trailer w/truck or were you set on a motor coach?
Chris and I both gravitated to the van right away. We never really considered any other style of rig. Mostly do to the smaller size, and ease of travel that works for our faster pace of travel. Makes it an easy transition into the lifestyle too. BUT, once we slow down a bit and want to switch up our travel style, I could see us in a truck and trailer. That would add a whole new element to it and maybe allow us to see the country through a different set of eyes!
@@IreneIronTravels I concur- we started out looking at the Travato, but the wet bath really is not optimal, according to the Boss Lady. Switched to Class C's, which are a bit expensive, plus you would probably want a toad vehicle- which is even more expense. Now looking at 4 season trailers with a heavy duty truck. Man, the results are endless and each manufacturer is so different! Very overwhelmed with choices- really need to hit an RV show to look at everything side by side. Best of luck- the HQ of my gym is in Chanhassen, MN. Beautiful country up there- safe travels.
If you haven't ran cross Outdoors RV from Oregon for a 4 season trailer, give them a look. We met a full time couple about 6 months ago that has been in one for 2 years and they love it. They are currently updating the interior, which I can't wait to see. We have since become friends and they are going to all of the 400 some National Parks. Here is their video on why they went with ORV. czcams.com/video/c5m6BaoZu3o/video.html
You got me looking at 4 season trailers now! 😂 This video of theirs actually does a good job on the different trailers. I noticed on the ORV website they make a 21 and 24 foot toy hauler with the outside deck/patio. I've always wanted one of those patios! czcams.com/video/Q-xKg2uCjps/video.html
@@IreneIronTravels Yes, the Outdoors RV come highly recommended- as do the ones from Lance. I like both of them. I also came across another newer one that I came across was the Evoke Series from Travel Lite RV, but I'm reading that they have some issues. We really need a bit more room with 2 Rottweilers and a Great Dane!
What is the adventure card?
I think it was the gas stations ( Mavricks) "loyalty" type of card. Discounts on gas and such.
