    Did the update - thanks for the info. Only difference for me was the drivers in the Remote control package for the drivers is very different - and results in an Icom icon in device manager for win 10. 73

    Thank you for your videos. I bought a IC-7100 from QRZ and am enjoying your clear descriptions of the radio functions.

    Even in the first video you taught me stuff. Granted I am a new Tech and just started using the IC-7100 last week. But you teach me something new with every episode. I did check and mine already had the latest firmware. But you taught me how to check it!

    I happened on your channel abt the IC7100 and I just happen to have a new one in the box next to me. I have to say your instruction videos are as good as I have ever seen and at almost 80 I’ve seen a few. At my age learning these new rigs after being away from ham radio for several years due to health I need good instruction. I can’t get antennas up so I figured I’ll go mobile I can handle installing those antennas and I liked the looks of this radio. Over the years I have been sorry to see a lag in local on air participation of the Hams almost every place I’ve lived in the last 10 years. With the ease of entry into ham radio I would have thought the airwaves would be crowded on 2meters which is all I could use but from Indiana to Kansas to Ohio the radio mostly ID. Thank you.

      Hi Jimmie. Thank you for the kind words. I have found activity is a large mix depending on the area. 2 meters is definitely less active than it used to be, but around the Kansas City area, the repeaters have a fair amount of activity with nets at least. With the world situation of more people being at home in 2020, it seems like HF activity has increased quite a bit. I’m glad you’re finding the videos helpful. Hopefully we’ll meet up on the air one day. 73, Tom

    When doing the UP DATE, I do that with a fully charged large battery. I sometimes get small power blinks. I have my power supply and battery connected with a box that changes the battery from my power supply and power the radio and auto switch between power supply and battery.

    I pushed the DR button 3 or 4 times before I got my eyes in sync with my finger. It ended up working fine.

    Hey Tom, It's been a month since the last video. I hope you are okay. I gave up on the download problem with not having a Windows machine. I hate like hell having to buy a Windows machine but the HAM world is still back in the last century so I broke down and found an El Cheapo "refreshed" tower from Amazon arriving this week. Now I will be able to program my DMR radios and updates for the Icom 7100. Thanks for all you do.

      Hi Stan. Thanks for the kind words and for your concern. We recently bought a house and the whole move, boxing, unboxing, getting stuff setup has taken way more time than I was planning on. (I really should have known better). More videos coming soon...

      @@HamRadioA2Z Outstanking Tom. I feel better. Life is so crazy now and the last I heard you were RVing. I worry about friends and try to check on one a day. We have never met or talked but I consider you a friend. I moved from Hawaii after 43 years in 2001 back to the Pacific Northwest. I just changed my call from KH6JMK to WA7SDC. Glad you are safe and enjoy the new house. 73.

    Have you covered the internal meters in the 7100, like the SWR meter? If not, are you going to show them in a video? I am learning a lot about this unit from your videos, so please keep them coming!

    Thanks for this series. I've had a 7100 for several years and love the rig. It's amazing how much it does. Your series is helping me with many features that were not clear in the manuals. Do you address the internal "sound card" which I understand it has, but does not seem to be covered in the manual. I have tried to use FLDIGI, but can't seem to get the sound to link up. Suggestions? Thank you very much for you helpfull video.. i did the update load, so i have last firmware version on my IC 7100.
    Buti just have a persistent problem with the SSB.(only SSB Peak,FM is powerfull)
    in fact, I fail to output more than 50 watts of peak power.
    it seems that it is necessary to intervene by installing a component, to solve this problem. .
    do you have any information?
    or was the update sufficient for you?
    thank you in advance. 73!

    I appreciate your videos very much. I just got the Icom 7300 and I'm learning a lot from you. My computer is connected to my 7300 with a formatted SD card. How do I upload the latest version of firmware to it?

    • @HamRadioA2Z
      @HamRadioA2Z  Před 4 lety

      Hi David. Congratulations on the new rig! I have thought about doing a video on updating the 7300, but I keep waiting for Icom to update the firmware. I just checked the icom website and the latest version is still from July of 2018. So, if you just got your rig, I'm sure it has the latest firmware. If you want to check for firmware updates, you can look here: www.icomamerica.com/en/downloads/default.aspx?Category=615

    So, have we once again purchased a radio that can only be upgraded using Windows? Since I just purchased his one I guess I will just not worry about it.

    • @HamRadioA2Z
      @HamRadioA2Z  Před 4 lety

      Hi Stan. I'm afraid so. I realized after I recorded this that I never mentioned that in the video and I should have. I use Windows exclusively at work and my main machine at home has Windows 10. So it isn't an issue for me, but I do understand the frustration. I was just listening to another ham radio podcast, Linux in the Ham Shack, the other day and the hosts were complaining that the Yaesu Fusion PC software only runs on Windows also. Hopefully the radio manufacturers will give more consideration to multi-platform software. 73, Tom

      @@HamRadioA2Z Thanks Tom, it is outstanding what you do. You started me to the 7300 and now the 7100. I have the same problem with DMR. I don't know why every company in the world make programs for both. HAM, somehow is stuck on Windows. I have been on Macs since Widows Vista forced me to Mac. Tom, I have a question. I got programming the 2 meters into the 7100 as the split is automatic. On the 440 I can't figure out the +5 split. It does not seem to be automatic like 2 meters.

    Get urself a proper touch screen pen with the soft part at the front so we don’t have to keep looking at the pocket clip which obscures what ur pointing to. It’s commonsense mate!
