  • Hey everyone!
    So here are my opinions of the pros and cons of having partial dreads as a hairstyle. My experience with having half dreadlocks and half normal hair has been great and really I have no complaints but sometimes it can be a little annoying. The pros are many, the cons are few. I'll go over all of the things I've encountered over the years of having partial dreads and I hope they will help you in your decision to have a partial head of dreadlocks or not. The pros and cons list I've come up with are totally my own thoughts, and others may or may not agree with me, but I think they stand up pretty well. Making the decision to gets dreads is a really really really big commitment that takes a looong time to see the results you really want, but that doesn't makes me dislike the journey. It's really quite fun learning the patience of growing and forming dreads, full head or partial, and to me is a pro, not a con.
    I started with only a few dreads about 5 years ago and then slowly over time added a few more, and a few more, and then took some dreads out, and then added more dreads.... so it stands to say that I love partial dreads. Would I get more? I'm not sure yet. Still weighing the pros and cons, ha. But no really.... I'll probably get more...
    So in this video I talk about the pros which are - looks awesome, adds volume to my hair, I love them. The cons are - annoying to keep the other hair from getting sucked into the formed dreads, sucks to wash, people think you're a dirty hippie.
    Thanks for stopping by and watching my video on the pros and cons of partial dreadlocks, I really appreciate it. I try and make new videos every week focusing around dreadlocks, hair, my undercut, and any new styles I'm trying out so please come back to check out my channel and see what I'm up to.
    If you have anything questions regarding dreadlocks please let me know and I'll try to address them.
    Thank you so much,
    Laura LP Hair

      You don't think washing is annoying??? 2 different shampoo regiments, conditioning the top without getting it in your locs?? That's the worst part. Lol and my loose hairs now want to dread along with the rest. It's been interesting to see half my hair being loose to 3/4 loced up hah

    Thank you so much for this I have partial dreads and no one really makes videos about them. These r so relatable. A con that I found with them is I get other hair tangled around my dreads and it can be a bit annoying seperating it out especially after I wake up or something. It's not that bad but after having to do it a lot it can be bothersome

    I absolutely love your hair videos. They're so awesome! How do you maintain the roots? Mine are a few months old and I'm having no luck with my straight, thin hair.

    Hi! I like your video and I think I want to add something, it is true that you can't do some hairstyles you did before but your partial dreadlocks can also add options for your hairstyle! Like when you have dreads behind your ears you can just knot or even twist them together in some kind of hairband behind your head or twisting them around a knot or ponytail gives a really nice result. Most of the time if you try a hairstyle for the first time it may look very awkward but just keep trying and adjusting little things and make it your own. Always remember that creating your own style is never easy but always worth it! Be yourself, love yourself, create yourself ❤

    Hello Laura, I am rather new on your channel and especially love love your hair in this vid. At this moment I am in between jobs (so to speak) and so I'm feeling more free now in a lot of things:-) Therefore I decide to go for the partial dreads! Last year I had a failed attempt for a whole head (except my fringe) synthetic dreads but that was a big mistake, to heavy, itchy and hurting, I had them for 1 day! So I think this a beautiful option and also much more unique in my opinion. I wonder how long your dreads were back then and can you be more specific about where you had placed them? I guess you had about 10-15 dreads then? Many thanks for your answer in advance and lots of greetings from Holland xxx

      Thank you so much 🙏☺️. I'm glad you like my hair here. I didn't have too many dreads- maybe 10? And they were mostly in the sides, high up above my ears but with a bit of my natural hair flowing over from the top, and I had a couple in the back in random places. It was a great style bc they were subtle but gave me added texture. Good luck with your new look 😁.

    Hi Laura! Any advice on partial dreads for someone who has to wash their hair daily? I'm a blonde with really a really oily scalp, and must shampoo daily. Maybe it's a habit I created. But, I've read about waxing your dreads so they stay dry, would I wax my dreads so I can shampoo my loose hair daily? Thanks!!

    how many time you can wash your hair when you have partial synthetic dreadlocks ? I had to wash my natural hair 4 time a week. (oily hair)

    • @LauraLPHair
      @LauraLPHair  Před 6 lety +1

      +Tazylou hey hey I'm not too sure about synthetic dreads 🤔 my dreads are natural and although I never really wash them with shampoo they do get wet 1-2 times a week when I wash the rest of my hair and it helps tighten them up nicely.

      I had really oily hair and started doing it every other day then every 3 days and it’s worked awesome. I just make sure I brush it every day so my scalp won’t itch and the pores won’t get clogged with oil.

    Washing Hair can be annoying too! If you wash your normal hair all 2 days but your dreads just only once a month you can take a shower like a normal person just once a month :D

    • @LauraLPHair
      @LauraLPHair  Před 6 lety +1

      +MrsShozy I forgot about that while compiling my list but it's true, and then brushing it afterwards as well. But worth the trouble :D

    Hi how many dreads do you have?

    • @LauraLPHair
      @LauraLPHair  Před 6 lety

      Hey! I had about 6 on one side and maybe 3 in the other and a couple in the back when I made this but I recently dreaded everything underneath so now maybe 20-25 of them. The top of my hair is still natural but the rest is dreaded and I love it way more, even though I never thought I would like it. Thanks for watching :)

    • @LauraLPHair
      @LauraLPHair  Před 6 lety +4

      +Chrissy Schaefer I don't think I will. I love my partial ones so much and they help keep me just a little different than my twin sister. Gotta have my own look a little. But I do love a full head of dreads to look at!

    Also Pros:
    using less heat on my hair
    less split ends
    Cons:
    using two different shampoos one for normal hair and one for dreadlocks.
    separating hair so they don't congo

      @theprettiest8582 Před 3 lety

      You can solve that con, use one type of shampoo, You can even use a natural shampoo like dollylocks thats great for all hair types
