Great video but I have a question. If my shutter speed is locked and my aperture cannot change, how can I set the ISO to automatic? As a scene gets lighter or darker, changing the ISO on fly all the time will get cumbersome. Thanks.

I tried this app last night at a ballgame. The field was in bright sunlight. I could not get the camerqa to darken and had set the iso to the lowest setting. I could not find a way to change the aperature. The iris was greyed out and set to 2.8
I’ve tried to video using this app and even though I have the video count going and the press to record button is red, I go to the media button and the clip is there but no video is available ?
If your goal is to shoot a landscape video as your main video, you can re-use the middle of the screen as a vertical for shorts, social etc. Just getting more use from the same video.
Can you shoot photos with this app? Or is it only for videos? Just want something to control shutter speed so my pictures of my computer monitor doesn't have lines on it.
In my opinion all these camera apps do not give the same quality video as the native camera app. Most phones have pro mode for use with the native camera app and include most of the above settings.
You are right. The quality of the images is better with the native app. The Blackmagic App is designed for the users that would like to practice a little bit of cinematography. And also the fact that you can edit the shots in Davinci Resolve and even color grade them it’s the best practice ever.
Haha I have one connected directly into the camera, and the other is usbc to the computer so I’m recording two separate sources as a backup. I only ever use one in a finished video. We had some issues a while back so thought we’d just add in some redundancy. Justin.

You have your perception the meaning of camera. Camera is used for both for video and still.since this video is about video the the term camera applies.

When was the last time you heard someone say… “go get your video camera?” Or “go get your photo camera?” Nobody even says “camera.” When thinking of pictures and/or video it’s almost always now a phone. This app is actually amazing for shooting videos! Far superior to Apple’s native camera app. It’s not bad at all.
As an absolute novice I struggled with this video. The app looks ridiculously complicated and this tutorial is only for the menu . It’s inside the menu that needs explaining. I’m sorry but this put me off getting the App . 🙁
@@mgscheue FYI with several mirrorless cameras and a hefty budget I chose the IPhone over all of them for stills & videos. I create 1080P content and the iPhone 13 does a better job than any on video and an excellant job on photos.

I like the app very much but unfortunately , the Smallrig remote button will not actuate the camera. Maybe Black Magic could fix this

Why you skipped media?
When shooting portraits, why not hold the camera vertically to use more of the sensor?

The big problem of this app - there is no 48mm lens, that is one of native of iPhone 15 pro.
You failed to mention it's **FREE** !! It would also be good to mention the cost of the BlackMagic cloud service.
