Even in my family, most persons think I am crazy for accepting that I am a descendant of West Africans (no idea where exactly sadly) and that I need to educate myself on various aspects of these cultures.

Africa is rich in resources but lack infrastructure to capitalize on that which it treads upon. Africa is impoverished because they rely on outside elements to harvest, process, package, and shipping of their goods. This is the same as the Middle East. Suadi Arabia is one of few that does for themself without outside manipulation.

I would have expected a Professor to at least familiarize himself with Christian theology. We, Christians pray to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but we never pray through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob or communicate with them. That's different from what some African spiritualists do which is praying to or through ancestors or communicating to the ancestors. Thaya fundamental difference.
