- Replacing the mosfets using a hot air rework station. This is a common problem with the n54 dme, where the mosfet gets stuck in the "on" position. This problem will cause misfire in either bank. You may need to replace ignition coils as well. MSD80 fault codes 30BA 30BB

Love watching you fix the board. Great video!
Thank you so much brother you saved me a boat load of money!!
I did this with an iron, it's a lot faster if you have a steady hand. Thanks for supplying the MOSFET part number, they are working great so far.
How did you do it with an iron? I’ve tried but i have no luck getting the solder under the mosfet to melt. I’ve literally contacted all the tv repair shops within a 20 mile radius from where I live and they all refuse to do it and. I only have a iron not a hot air gun :/
@@TH3M0NSTR1NU Hello, I used this video as a guide czcams.com/video/L_DIpklxXcI/video.html you can see that he is heating the MOSFETS just enough with the iron back and forth, and when you apply the solder after heating it, you'll see the solder get sucked under, hold it in place while the solder sets for a few seconds. Takes some practice, but it's pretty easy after doing a few of them. You could practice with the bad one you take off, practice soldering the old one on something else other than your DME. Hope this helps.
Did you go ahead and replace all of them or just the one at first to see if it fixes the problem?
@@ericgonzalez1040 I decided to all 6 of them while I was at it, it's still going strong.
E85Johnson the ones that came in did they seam smaller than the original
You Just saved me some$$$
thanks for video ?? we have bmw x5 with msd85 dme the fault is misfire in cylinder 1 we replacing ignition and spark plug but still have same problem
can help
does this solution its for msv 70 or just msd 80
and did the 300V new mosfet work and does the car still run with it?
Yep! Still running!
Hey have you had any issues since ? Also would you like to do mines I'm in Brooklyn ny ?
No issues :)
could i send mine out to you and have you sodder it???
I keep getting a misfire on 6 and a fuel cut out think this could be my problem. I have replaced everything
Should be. Im getting the same symptoms, I got a code for my o2 sensors(just replaced them) but still didnt fix the problem. Injectors are newish too. It's been over a year since you commented. What was you're problem?
@@giohernandez3591 getting cylinder 5 fuel cut off, it’s been a year for you as well lol. did this fix it?
@@almontelouie start with the easy stuff. Mine turned out to be bad spark plugs and a bad ecu.
How do you remove the mosfets? Also, where can I find the flux/solder mix?
Just heat em up with the hot air, eventually the solder will melt, and they will pop off with a pick or your choice of tools. The mix is "SRA SRA LOW TEMP SOLDER PASTE" amzn.to/2RtIiYz
@@dancccp what temp would you recommend to remove and re-solder? 250? Also, any tips to prevent accidentally ripping out the trace? Looking to replace mine this weekend and found your video very helpful. Thanks!
Geoffrey Chu Glad I could help! Yeah 250c will be fine, play around with the air flow rate. I would practice on some throw away boards (TVs, etc.). Don’t pull hard on the mosfet, she’ll go off easy when it’s hot enough.
Hey I cannot get mine to come off maxed out any tips
Dear friends from where you order it can u please send me a link

@@dancccp
Thanks for for yr help 👍
Did it work
Yep!
Part number please? And why you doing the replacement?
FDB14N30TM. Mosfet failed, and I was getting terrible misfire issues.
Works?
Yup!
I cannot get the other mosfet off any tips I say there at 250 for 10 minutes then cranked up it to 275 for another 5 minutes and u still cannot get it to release
I've continued trying to remove it even maxed out for a long period of time it will not come off what am I doing weong
Just for future people having trouble u need to use a slightly bigger nozzle size for it to heat the entire pad. But for me I threw it in the oven at 250c for a minute and then immediately hit it with the heat gun and it came right off
@@Willabeast Nice! Yeah I ended up ripping the trace because I didn't heat it up enough for the first one. The others I made sure to heat generously.
@@dancccp how did you reinstall without the pad?
@@The_Chattanooga_Realtor Pad still there, had to reattach it to the board
Uhhhmmmm just wow..... that was hard to get through. You know, they make board preheaters?
That would've saved a lot of time... Which one would you recommend?
@@dancccp I have a chip master system, had it for years, just did a set of mosfet’s today, it literally took 35 minutes to do 6, I have also been doing this stuff for 30 years, so I may have an edge....
What is sodder?.
