- SmplTrek Effects with External Audio
Today I'm exploring the effects section of the Sonicware SmplTrek, and using those effects on incoming audio from an external source (in this case, the Liven XFM). All of these effects can be resampled into new sounds, so even if you're just working with internal sounds you can still have a large amount of flexibility when working on songs! Enjoy the video :)

The external mic is meant to be run through the R input, there's apparently a mic preamp on that R input (according to Cuckoo 😊).... So you can have guitar running into the L and mic into the R for jotting down your magic 😁🌌
That's awesome!
i remember when you had a few subs good job fam
Thanks so much!
I wish you would have gone into the master bus effects because they don’t work on the line in, or at least they don’t seem to?
Okay i have to say the effects are pretty nice. 👍
Yeah they sound pretty good, I really like the amps!
First! Good show of versatility and working within limitations.
Thanks for watching!
The SmplTrek is so mighty! I still think it’s intimidating though. For me I looks so confusing what buttons you need to press!
Big fan!
Thanks so much!
Are you limited to only one effect at a time on a input?
The SmplTrek is a bit odd on insert effect, it only have 1 insert and on any 1 track only, if you use it for internal sound, you miss it on external source.
It need some planning on using the insert effect.
May be I am too greedy?
it's made for resampling or direct recording i guess
Yeah, like @Arkansya said I think it's more meant to be resampled or direct recorded.
@@FreeBeat But then why is the resampling so tedious?
I am on the verge of buying a Smpltrek, but this is kinda a dealbreaker for me.
Having not much Effects at one time wouldn't be so bad, if the resampling was easier and more immediate.
It would have to be offline processing and possible during playback,
And a dedicated Sampler function for applying effects like in the Tracker Mini would make this groovebox much more capable for sound-design.
Love your vids btw!

Hi, the master effects don’t work with the external ins, is there a workaround on those????
Record and then resample the Mastertrack (last dot on the resampling page).
@@mixrasta yes thanks, I wanted to apply them without having to record and resample, just as inserts and sends
Master effects are at the end of the chain, so it probably won't work, I guess.
can this thing export audio?
Yes it can!
@@FreeBeat Take my 404 mk2!
I couldnt stand the XFM. It just felt so cheaply made. The workflow was awful too.
I'm a big fan of it, but I definitely understand it's not for everyone!
@@FreeBeat for sure. That was just my 2 cents but good for you of you're a fan! I really wish I had been! They are so inexpensive, I wish I had liked it. I've gone through so much gear looking for the perfect piece. So far the best groovebox I've come across and id say most complete too is the Deluge. I need to get it again. I know you mentioned recently that you plan on getting an Akai Force. I'd be willing to give that another shot too. I'm also a big fan of Elektron stuff. I don't do a lot w samples so I just had a Model Cycles and a Digitone. I'd like to give the Syntakt a shot, especially now w song mode added.
@@aariccallahan7371 just recently got a deluge used. I was blown away by the capability, don't know what took me so long lol I have an akai force, its a monster tbh but I don't find myself sitting to use it much due to portability and just the sheer amount of capabilities can sometimes be distracting, it's best as a central hub for production like a computer which sometimes defeats the purpose of buying hardware if it's just operating like a computer anyway lol syntakt seems interesting, I'll give that one a shot eventually if prices get lower
