If it makes you feel better, George, I've seen an old 3-page thread where someone put blue LEDs in and wondered why the display went blank. Blue LED light + orange filter = black.

Yes, it's easier with a pre-2003 Corsa because the MFD doesn't have to be matched to the stereo head unit. You can buy a used MFD, surround and maybe you will need the connection cable from the MFD to the HU (mine was already present - I don't know if the loom is there on vehicles with the 'burger tray' blank space) and it should work fine. Try to get an MFD from a

Hi I dunno if you can help but I have tried with the removal keys to remove the stereo but it wouldn’t budge. I’ve removed the front off and the metal front of the stereo is exposed but it still won’t budge. I’ve manage to take the T20 screw out of the stereo cage but I need to get behind the stereo to remove it. Any tips on how to do this?

some models of the 2000-2005 Corsa had an extra button which locked the stereo from being removed. My first car had a radio looking like his but there was one slight difference: an extra button with this small shitty "lock"-Button which I did kind of oversee xD

If you want to change the base colour of the display(the yellow tint) you need to do the following:
    1. open up the main body of the unit and remove the digital display from the front of the circut board(on some versions the display assembly is held together by a metal bracket and you will need needlenosed pliers to remove this by bending its tabs streight on the back of the board). Underneath there is a dark orange peace of plastic called the filter.
    2. Once the old filter is removed you will need to replace it with a colourless(but not clear) alternative , a 1ltr milk botle is perfect and can easily be cut using the old filter as a template. Avoid any molding lines and cut 2 to 3 layers as there thinner than the origonal filter (also the more layers the darker and more deffuse the backlight of the display will be at te end)
    3. reassemble the unit making sure the digital display sits flush on the circit board and lines up with the contacts on the board(looks like a rubber pad) . Once rebuilt you can now add any colour LED you like.
It takes about 10 mins if you know what you are doing but I would set aside an hour if your unsure. If at the end the backlight is wortking but you cannot see any information being displayed the glass part of the display is not miking contact with the circuit board.
