  • This blanket is probably something you won't see everyday. It looks hard to make but it's easy to complete. This blanket can be made as large or small as you like. You can make this into a baby blanket, throw, full size blanket, or even king size blanket. You choose the size by simply following the instructions given in the video to reach your desired width and length. There is no need to be able to read patterns to complete this project. It is great for all ages. The blanket features 2 colors. The pattern looks almost like an open weave. Follow along with me and complete one for yourself or a loved one. Only simple stitches used. Most complicated is a picot, which I demonstrate for you. This pattern can also be used for scarfs, headbands, blankets, shawls, throws, blankets, etc. Great for women, boys, men, or whoever likes to be warm and cozy. This pattern uses basic stitches such as the chain and double crochet.

    I have made many blankets off of your pattern Yolanda, thank you so much for sharing. We have a baby Blanket Ministry at our church that we make baby blankets for the local hospital and everytime I use your pattern I just get so many compliments, it's an easy pattern to do and it's beautiful. Whatever color combinations I use it has turned out beautiful. We received yarn in 2016 from one of the local Christian schools for their Community project it was a kindergarten class and one of the yarns that was gift to us was apple red and no one in the group wanted to try to make a baby blanket out of it so I kept looking at it and kept looking at it and finally decided to use your pattern and do it with the red and the green border for Christmas I came up with some holly leaves and berries and it turned out the cutest. Thank you once again for sharing your patterns this is one of my favorites. God bless you always. Gloria

    Hi Yolanda, I really love this blanket and am currently making a version. That said, I wonder if you are aware that you are missing a section of instruction? I have gone back about 10 ten times, and it is definitely not there. I'm speaking about the first row of yellow around the edge, which includes the increase (to six in corners) that you mention later, when doing the second row. The video jumps from first row of white edge, to second row of white. Anyhow, as I'm a fairly advanced hooker, I can sort of figure this out by catching glimpses as you hold the work up, and working it out myself. Just thought that some beginners might be a bit confused and thought I should bring it to your attention.

    • @arb519
      @arb519 Před 10 lety +2

      After watching the video, you are simply slip stitching your yellow back in at the corner once you finish the first white row which is your chain 3 and single crochet like in Row 2. The yellow row is the same as Row 3 except you are crocheting 6 double crochet in each of the 4 corners to make it rounder instead of pointy square corners. Then you switch back to the white (Row 3). You keep switching back and forth until you are ready for the last row of the yellow - then instead of 6 double crochet in the corner you work 3 double crochet in each corner. Then you follow the instructions for the picot stitch trim. Does that help to you?

      In the sample swatch she did you do the 6 DC (yellow) in each corner in the row immediately following the first white row. So after the white row that is really Row 2 around the entire blanket you change to the yellow row which is Row 3 but doing 6 DC in the corners.

    I kept this video for years, and finally decided to make the blanket 2 months ago. I followed your instructions for the FIRST edging of the contrasting color. I was confused after that round. I just took a close look at your blanket and finally figured out there was no instruction for making the corners. I didn't know what you meant by "no more 6 in the corner". Somehow I improvised and finished it. Now I'm making it again, and after I go around one time with my contrasting color, I will pick up my original color and go around with double crochets and a corner of 6.
    Thank you for the pattern.

    so yes - there are rows missing - it seems that after the white row (min' 14:40) you continued with a yellow row which is 3dc in each gap - BUT there are 6 in the corners, but i dont know if there is any row between them (meaning 3dc + eyes + 3dc) or 6dc and that's it
    and then you made another white row and another yellow with corners.
    i wish it was in the tutorial, cause you spent so mach time on the begining,,, and where it gets diffrent there is a gap

    I finished sewing in all the loose ends and now ready to do the border. I used a G hook and lincraft double knit 8ply acrylic yarn, it's only a small blanket 32 x 30. Everyone loves the pattern. Thankyou so much for sharing it.

    I agree. I just started crocheting and found it helpful to use a contrast color yard as a marker for the ends. I could not tell when I reached the last loop so I sewed in a contrast small piece of yarn and it helped tons!!

    I am so thrilled to be able to watch your tutorials on everything you make. I've always known how to do the stitches but had a problem following directions. I guess I'm from Missouri because I have to be shown. I have made 5 scarfs, 4 hats, 2 neck warmers, and flowers and now I'm making this blanket. Thank you so much I appreciate all you do.

    Thank you Yolanda! I can't read a pattern but your video made it so I don't have to! I watch and rewind as I get through each row and am almost done with a pink and grey blanket. I decided to do a gray row of slip stitch every 15 rows and it looks amazing. I'll post photos when done!
