    Thanks for making this video. It gives me confidence to build my retaining wall this weekend. What type of chippings you suggest I use? I do see many out there so not sure which one to buy.

    Do you need a deep footing for a wall that will be 3 block on the fly high with the garden coming up to around the 2nd block

    Thank you for the video! So helpful. One question how deep and wide do you build the foundation? I'm planning to do the same for a 1 metre tall wall. Which holding back soil which only half metre tall. Thanks for the help again

      If your building a retaining wall you'll need a good footings, about 300mm deep by 400mm just to be safe, thanks for watching 👍

    Great vid. Do I have to create a concrete base before laying the block. I notice you just put the mixer on the gravel and lay the block on. Your response will be appreciated

    • @thewelshbuilder2454
      @thewelshbuilder2454  Před rokem +1

      We made a stiff concrete mix and layed the first block straight on, but you'll be better off concreting the footings and leaving it dry first 👍

    • @thewelshbuilder2454
      @thewelshbuilder2454  Před 2 lety

      If your building a retaining wall this way it depends on what it's holding back but the higher you build the thicker you'd have to build, thanks for watching 👍

    Thanks for this, any tips on how to make sure those dry blocks dont suck the moisture out the mortar? Or is it all in the mix? I think im getting the mix to a nice consistency but its drying out and not giving me enough "squish" to level out blocks...if that makes sense?

    • @thewelshbuilder2454
      @thewelshbuilder2454  Před 2 lety +2

      Try a tiny bit of washing up liquid in the mix while it's mixing 👍

    Surely you need deeper foundations for this? Once the water gets under the concrete base level you could if you wanted push this over or move it freely?

    • @thewelshbuilder2454
