I've always found that to be such a silly makeup "rule", that you can't wear dramatic/bold eyelooks with an unusual or bold lip color.

Blue and green and grey etc are "normal" for me, but I only wore red lipstick for the first time a year ago (I'm in my 40's) and felt brutally self-conscious all day.
omg I'm the same (except younger 😅) - red feels so weird and "out there" to me although I can confidently wear unconventional lipstick colours... I think a classic red lip makes me feel too old and lady-like and it's difficult to find your ideal undertone. if it's a burgundy or wine red however, it suddenly works for me 👀
Red is amazing! :) Did you try a very deep burgundy? It's almost like a black, so vampiric and sensual. I feel like a vampire queen when I wear red lipsticks XD
I feel self-conscious wearing red too. I like how red looks but I always wipe it off.
same! I adore my blues, greens and purples and feel amazing in them, but I feel like a lobster wearing bright red lips. I hate it on me so much! Red undertones are forgiveable, but straight up red? No thanks!
I have come to a realisation that black is neutral lipcolour, it works basically with any look. 😂

YES! I use it often with bold red eyeshadows, or pastels, or brights... it's such a versatile lip color! But I'm a goth so for me black lips are like a nude :)
It depends though, because some are neutral, but some are green based and look cool toned
I heard someone say that everyone needs a nude lip that will go with any look, and my first thought was black.

you would love a ton of the bullet lipsticks from melt cosmetics I think! "mural" is a wearable orange nude, "voyeur" is a lighter yellow-based nude, "710" is an orange/yellow brown and "tomboy" is a medium grey with olive tones in it. they do a lot of yellow-leaning and warmer tones and their formula is nice
I second this. I own all of those colours and they’re gorgeous. I don’t like their liquid lipstick formula nearly as much, but the shade golden is pretty awesome too.

Blackmoon Cosmetics has amazing colors! They have an amazing yellow (the one I wear looks like baby poop lmao but it's amazing), deep army green, orange, etc... I love them.
As a very cool toned person i'll reach for a blue lipstick before I'm reaching for an orange 😂

I love funky lip colors! Grey and blue feel as natural to me as mauve or brown. Fenty Mattemoiselle is probably my favorite formula that has fun colors, especially the navy, teal, green, and foyal purple shades! And I have such a hoard of warm grey, cement-y shades, I love them so much

My favorite brand for unconventional lip colors is Necromancy Cosmetica, is a small indie brand from Puerto Rico with an amazing range of lipsticks. My favorites are “solis mortem” a yellow lipstick and “mourning rose” that is a deep mauve 💖

I love a good Navy...Bite used to have two great unconventional colours : Kale and Squid Ink. Lethal has a great liquid lip called Wasteland

a couple years ago when I was in sophomore year of high school, I had a HUGE PHASE where I wanted every color of the rainbow on my lips. Even a couple years ago unusual lip colors were super hard to find so I’m so glad you posted this and opened me up to buy indie unusual lipsticks

Orange rec: Maybeline Superstay Matte Ink in "Globetrotter". There's just enough brown in it for it not to look garish against my tan/deep skin.

Adore unconventional lipstick colors! Big agree, I find that picking something that leans towards your undertone is key to preventing a "dead" look with the more grayish, bluey, or purplish colors. 🖤😁💄💋 My favorite brand for unique colors (and multiple undertones of red) is Necromancy Cosmetics, based in Puerto Rico! I use their yellow tone as a mix-in, to warm up colors that are too pink or purple for me. And they have a *perfect* orange Terra Cotta called "Grave Digger". It's legit a nude tone on me!! 🧡🧡
I also like the "unusual neutrals" that Melt Cosmetics has! Their "Old Fashioned" is the perfect orange-green brown... Sounds gross, but very flattering on warm/greeny-olive skin tones!

My all time favourite lip colour on me is Gone Greige from Maybelline. Such a perfect grey for me. I don't really like "conventional" looks so I really appreciate this video, I might check out some yellows next time I'm makeup shopping!

I haven't found an exact dupe for it, but some lipsticks that are in the same cool toned family and kinda similar to it are Nyx Shout Loud 1999, Smashbox Warrior Pose, Too Faced Throwin' Suede, Lime Crime Lip Blaze Ivy, Kiko Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick 332, L'Oreal x Balmain Glamazone (limited edition) or some more purplish like KVD Studded Kiss Creme Sanctuary, Nars Raw Love, Melt Stepford, Inglot 442. Literally wearing a true orange lipstick right now. Other than reds, its my absolute favorite lip color. Yay!
There's a part of my lips that don't keep the lipstick on, like if the inside of my mouth was apparent, so it's challenging for me to wear lipsticks too far away from my lip color.

I have the Sephora lip stories "Hot in Havana" orange, which I love! I also have the melt "1969" Lipstick, which is a little too light for me, even though I absolutely love the tone. I really need to try it again with a nude lip liner, which I never thought to do! I think that will be perfect. I absolutely love all the "weird" colors

I would love to try wearing a dark blue and bluetoned green, but my problem with bright lips in general is that I tend to unconsciously bite my lips a lot and it always ruins the lip colour. 😅

I was so nervous when i wore a black lipstick to a holiday party a two years back. I paired it with very light eyeshadow. But I wore it with confidence and got so many compliments!

Ty for showing how good unconventional lipsticks look. I love to wear colors that are out of the "norm". Black is my favorite to wear. I also love wearing, greens, teals, deep deep colors, orange, blues, n dark purple. I wear those colors more often than neutrals. Lol
Heck yeah, fun lip colors! :D I love NYX Moonwalk, too! Revlon had a line of really bold colors a couple of years ago and I still have a couple of those - a cobalt and an aqua. I like Fenty Midnight Wasabi, I just wish it was more of a cool-toned green so it looked better with my undertones.
I find if I use my fav lipliner it helps to tone the color or I’ll blend like ombré look to make a cooler tone work. I’m pretty neutral olive so I love color!

I have a ridiculous amount of unusual lipsticks. Cider by black moon, melt's golden, another similar one from sephora that i can't remember because I'm not home, kale from bite, Hazel from black moon... basically, if it's mustard or green I'll buy it. Oh and pumpkin rose from fenty! Gaaahhhh it's so pretty

I love unconventional lip colors! I have the feeling that purples are the easiest to wear, but green, blue, taupe and black are really my things. I used to love JSC for the variety of shades, but as I don't support him, I started buying more from Ofra and I love the quality of their lip products.
I have a pale olive-leaning skin undertone and purples feel really hard to pull off for me unless they are dark. for me it feels easier to wear greens!

The first grey lipstick was gorgeous on you!!! It complements your skin tone very nicely and whitens your teeth. I think, of all the ones you tried on, that one was my favorite

I wear black, dark chocolate brown, navy blue, dark green, purple - blackened purple and burgundy coloured lipsticks. 😍🖤😍🖤😍 those shades are my jam. I work in a hospital and pre-international house of pancakes I walked in wearing grey silvery lipstick. 🤣🤣🤣 I love it. My signature lip is a darkened purple. 😘 Before BITE got rid of their Amuse Bouche lipsticks - Kale and Squid Ink were my favourites! I love Black Moon Cosmetics liquid lipsticks. I have a shade called Harvest. OMGOSH it's stunning.

I'm olive in undertone and can wear blues, grays, purples, black and greens without an issue. I can't pull off orange because it washes me out. My solution is to try sheer colours instead. I have a sheer orange lipstick and it looks good/doesn't clash but you can still see the colour. That's my trick for unconventional colours that won't quite suit me...
Favourite orange lipstick is the elf sheer lipstick in orange - I have a few other shades as well and they're all great 😊

What you said about orange lip gloss. I would highly recommend Kim Chi Chic High Gloss Bomb in Tangerine. It is absolutely perfect, very neon and very bright and pigmented gloss! As a fellow Cheeto face I would think you like it!

I don't love orange lips, usually, but the gloss bitter orange by chanel is the best one I've ever try, it a reddish orange and I love it!
I love to use unconventional lipsticks. Oranges and greens are some of my faves! Favorite orange "Foiled Again" Liquid Suede from NYX.
I love this video idea. I have been on the hunt for a purple lipstick but there aren't too many that have been appealing to me.
I only wear nude lipsticks, but they always are either very cool toned or yellow toned. Both very pale as well, so it feels like I prefer an unconventional lip color because I can rarely ever find what I’m looking for! 😂
Funny story: I was on a walk with my best friend and wearing a green lipstick (Melt - blow). When I blew my nose I got lipstick on the tissue and said: uugh green! And my friend said disgusted: I don't know if I want to know that.... Because she thought I was describing the content of my nose 😆 and now I'm realising how perfectly fitting the name of the lipstick is 😂

I just remembered that kvd used to have an army green liquid lipstick, which I kinda want now. I believe it was called Tank Girl or something like that, but I think it was limited edition.
Nars audacious lipstick in Geraldine is a yellow toned orange in a lovely formula. I’d recommend that one any day.
I cannot get over how glamorous you look in the #25 from We makeup. Always beautiful but definitely leveled up here. If only I would wear it so well! I’m searching through your videos specifically for orange/yellow tone lipsticks.
I also adore orange lipsticks! There's an orange shade from MAC called Korean Candy that I adore. It's one of their Sheen Supremes, so it's super glossy, but it's a lovely deep red orange. It's definitely way more orange than red and it is my perfect summer lipstick. Flower Beauty has a burnt orange liquid lipstick shade that I like called Spiced Ginger. It is a good go-to between orange and nude. One final funky lipstick color I love is a duochrome one from Lime Crime called Beetle. It's a metallic coppery red base that reflects a golden green color. It's so fun!
My favourite orange lipstick has to be Fire by Laura Mercier, it's one of the velour matte lipsticks 💄

That first orange. When you held it up beside your face your whole face glowed so definitely can see why its a favourite. Oddly enough though you say you can't wear lilac or mauve leaning lipstics, I don't know if it was just the lighting but the second last one looked really mauve toned and was stunning on you xx

I used to be very into unconventional lipsticks before I started using colourful eyeshadow. When I still wore like a black winged liner and maybe a bit of a light brown crease colour purple lipstick was my "normal". I definitely need to get back into it as I love how it completes a look. Today I ended up using an orange (So Chaud by MAC) with my colourful eye and it really elevated the look instead of just making it yet another blue look with a nude lip. I need to bust out my oranges, greys and greens again.
I have a cool undertone. However, I tend to go for warm to neutral leaning lipsticks because cool toned lips tend to make me look deceased. 🥲💀
I have a warm undertone and I love cool toned lips because they make me look deceased. Mind you I'm on the tan to deep or dark spectrum. I'm really into that clashing dead look! 😭

The purple looking muted grays look good on you because purple and yellow are complimentary and you have yellow undertones. I have a neutral-warm undertone and Moonwalk is one of my favorite colors. It's so good and it looks amazing on you!
All the grays she showed looked purple not gray to me.

I love this. At 47 I no longer care how others see me and wear whatever, whenever. I actually have "moonwalk" and love it!! I also love a apricot, yellowy blush.
My recommendations (that are still available I hope) are by Melt:
"710" for a darker mustard and
"old fashioned" for a greige or whatever you call that.
They also have a bright orange but again, not sure if still available... I kinda want it now 🤪
Oh and nyx has a liquid lipstick in a true grey, too! Stone fox?

Beautiful! Those greyish taupes? Lovely! I have a few from the Fenty Mattemoiselle line that are unconventional that I enjoy, Violet Fury, Tiger Tini, Saw-C, Pumpkin Rose, and Clapback. They have been on sale for awhile, guess they are discontinued the line? And I have picked up a bunch of them.
