It's from 2011 and it's been well received among the Swedish LGBTQI communities. They even performed it during Stockholm pride week that year :)

@@hallvardkirkaune677 While you think you got it, he did write “we” so it seems like it went over YOUR head, buddy! 😂
It's even funnier when translating directly since the subs are adjusted for an english speaking audience, like the "foreign markets" part actually lists "wine, booze, Volvo and Saab isn't even swedish anymore" and the "eurovision" part is sung as "schlagerfestivalen" which was the old name for the eurovision preselection contest in Sweden (a.k.a Melodifestivalen) bc Mello is the most watched program on swedish TV 😂
and I'm assuming that the "never wants to end" refers to Melfest having 6 shows per year spanning over 6 weeks so when melfest starts saturday TV is bound to only be about it LMAO
ALSO the last banner says "SVT - Approved by the state" since SVT is a state owned neutral company which is kinda hilarious that they have to emphasize bc taking this song out of context could get kinda messy 😂😂
It's not just "wine and booze" in general, but "Vin & Sprit", the company behind Absolut Vodka, Explorer, Blossa, etc.
Yes, SVT is our state television, like BBC. Under SVT Humor ( 7:44 ) it says "Approved by the Government" 😆
😂😂😂
Not state television, public broadcasting television, just like BBC.
@@Henrik_Holst True, State television is like Russias 🤣

Absolutely! Swedish and British humor are siblings. Sick and intelligent. As a seventyfive year old Swede raised with British humor (Dave Allen, Monty Python, etc.) AND! You DISCOVERED! The sublime 'hand on the little boy' at the end! Referring to..? (we all know)
The hand check the thumb just disturbing but so fun it hurts.
Not just Swedish humour. All of the Nordics (I'd like to believe that it's one of the things the Vikings brought to the UK).

My favorite line is how even Lucifer isn't to blame for anything. Since it's all cause of the gays.
Like even literal Satan is lower on the blame list than Steve the random gay man to those loonies lol.
Well nothing bad is Satans fault so what is your point?
As a lesbian this is SUCH a banger😭
As a bisexual I have to agree
As a Swede I of course have to agree 🤣

@@olofsandberg1125 Every single gay/queer person I know agree that it’s fun! I mean it’s 100% obviously satire and it’s making fun of homophobes and fundamentalists so I don’t know what there is to be offended by! Whoever is offended must not understand the lyrics, unless they’re a hardcore religious person, in that case it’s understandable they’re offended lol.

That is why Monty Pyton was so popular in Sweden cause we have the same humor
I definitely can see that now, I love Monty Python I use to watch it as a kid.
As well as anything by Rowan Atkinson, he is extremely popular in Sweden. My personal faves with Rowan is Johnny English and Blackadder. Mr bean is a classic.
@@dwaynesview You might watch some Galenskaperna/Aftershave they were popular at the same time as Monty Python and share quite a lot of similarities.
Grotesco was among the best humor we have had in Sweden and on state television as well. Little Brittain was fantastic and I have watched every episode of it...
An absolute classic! They are making fun of the Christians and the homophobia of the church, obviously😂 It was actually played at the Pride festival here in Sweden💪🏳️🌈
I believe they are making fun of all hateful preaching from all the religions...... 😊
@@TheHollomap that was my thought also, satire against RELIGIOUS people
Except its not homophobia since they r not scared of them and its in the old testament itself that the sin of homosexuality is not loves by jesus nor god but they dont hate the sinnet but the sin
@@Oliver_El_Timido Homophobia doesn't mean that you're scared of them and there is a lot of stuff in the old testament that's fucked, leave it be bro just have fun

There is also the statement “Approved by the State”. In the flag under SVT!
Weeell, the Eurovision statment actually has some truth to it 😂
SVT = SwedishTelevision, so yes its our BBC.
Yeah melodifestivalen had a long period of leaning into the kitsch and gay community. But nowadays it's more like a kids show than anything 🫤
which makes it even more fun
There are two types of people.
There is one type who thinks of *B* ritish *B* roadcasting *C* ooperation, and then there is the rest of us.
We imported a lot of British humour like Monty Python, Fawlty Towers and Blackadder and even the guys in Monty Python couldn't understand why they were so popular in Sweden. If possible they were bigger here than in Britain. We share our special sense of humour with the Brits.
We were also the first country to buy in/adapt taskmaster from the brits
Swedish comedy wish it was British comedy.
Ok but speaking as a Swedish f--, Bögarnas Fel is loved by all the Swedish LGBTQIA+ community.
loved by all who has a sense of humour 🙂
@@78rpmblog Yeah. I remember that before I realized that I'm bi I hated this song because "It's homophobic" and I didn't realize that it's satire.
as a swed. I can say that Little Brittain, Black Adder, Monty Python and Allo Allo
is amazing.
Little Britain is just vad though
Don’t leave out Red Dwarf, mate
UK and Ireland has a lot of funny people, like Eddie Izzard, Ricky Gervais, Dara Ó Briain and so on …
Never forget Yes Minister :D
Black Adder and Allo Allo were normal compared to the lunacy of Monty Python and Little Britain XD
SVT is like you said the equivalent to your BBC. We love British humour here in Sweden. I grew up watching the Pythons, Black Adder, The young ones, Spitting Image and Faulty Towers. Both our countries loves sarcasm and satire.
If you havn't watched it before you should watch Yes Minister, you won't regret it. And it's amazing how the skits could just as well be a modern politician even though it was made in the 80's. Tror aldrig att den visades i TV här tyvärr.
SVT is our BBC. So you are right therer.
You can absolutely do this now. It's all in the presentation of the jokes.
I hate when people say you can't make this type of stuff now cause that's never been further from the truth.
If you punch up, you can use any language you like. But if you're punching down, you should stop entirely either way regardless of the language. So yeah, that's true
fully agreed! so many people self-censor themselves these days and say "oh, this could never be done today...". to me that's a self-fulfilling prophecy - if people keep telling themselves that you can't do stuff like this, well then eventually nobody is going to do it. free speech is one of the most fundamental human rights, people seem to have forgotten that.
you know that this song is making fun of homophobic people
@@ottoask9151 I know.
Great reaction! As a Swede I love british humour, as 'Litle Britain' as you mention aswell as Monty Python, Mr Bean, Fawlty Towers, Not nine a clock news, The young ones, Black Adder for examples.
Well Swedish TV used to show a lot of British comedy since the 60's, so...
Pretty much all of Flying Circus, definitely all of Fawlty Towers, Little Britain, Red Dwarf…
Fun fact: Satirical and sarcastic humour was brought to Britain by the vikings.
Was it? Is there any evidence of this? I wouldn't be surprised though, I mean Brits and Swedes have a clear similarity with sense of humour.
@@dwaynesview I may have been a little too generous with the word fact there, but it is at least a highly plausible theory. Looking at British texts from before and after the vikings conquered parts of Britain, there is a noticeable difference in humour. Since the vikings left precious few texts behind, it is hard to verify though. But we do know that the norse were very big on poetry, like obsessed with it, and they often competed against eachother in verbal fights, trying to insult their opponents in various witty ways. So it's certainly not a farfetched theory.
@@mrfomo217 I've heard about the "flyting" the vikings did as the original modern day rap battles.
Here's the correct translation but with less good rhythm cause yeah hard to translate but just in case ur curious what they actually say word for word:
Intro:
Yeah it is very easy to loose the faith.. in the world we live in today. But, I would like to, as comfort.. would like to say like this, that:
Song:
Over this whole world (oh yeah oh yeah)
Happens catastrophies terror murder (alas and alack)
But us who walk with Jesus, have yet our backs free
Because the root of worlds evil, is not us!
No its the **** fault! (The ***** fault!)
the ****** fault! (The ****** fault!)
In the bible it is written: "it is the ***** fault"
I don't now which row or verse, chapter or part
But somewhere here it is written "it is the ****** fault"
The war in Afghanistan?
The ******* fault!
The dictatorship in Iran?
The ***** fault!
And earthquake, flooding and everything else horrible? That "wine and sprite" and "Saab" and "Volvo" is not even Swedish?
Yes it is the ****** fault! (The ****** fault!)
The ****** fault! (The ****** fault!)
The world is one fire and it's the ****** fault
My son with hunting rifle four people shot to death, somehow I can feel it was the ***** fault
Divorces and alcoholism (the ***** fault!)
Parking attendants and atheism (the ***** fault!)
That the youth nowadays never learn *respect/discipline* ((old slang word that kinda means that, also "shame"))
That schlagerfestivalen(melodifestivalen/Eurovision) nowadays never want to end
Yes it's the ***** fault! (The ***** fault!)
The ****** fault! (the ****** fault!)
Everything is upside down and it's the ***** fault
My upbringing have made it that I probably never can be psychologically whole
But my family is in agreement it's the ***** fault
Crazy fundamentalist (the ****** fault!)
Every conflict in world history (the ****** fault!)
And religious grounds/foundation/bases we go to war kill and fight
But the debt/fault that it is like that, don't fall on us
No it's the ****** fault (the ****** fault!)
The ***** fault! (The ***** fault!)
Thereof can we agree it is the ****** fault
One can believe it is Satan himself who play us their game
But even he goes free because it's the ***** fault
Yes it's the ***** fault (the ***** fault!)
The ***** fault (the ***** fault!)
Everything that is wrong, yes it the ***** fault
I've been sitting in front the computer so my neck is stiff (there is no doubt it is the ****** fault!)
The ***************************** fault (the *****, the ******, the ******, yes it is the ****** fault, the ******, ,the ******, the ******, the ******, fault!)
They actually did this live on one of the most popular Summer Shows just a couple of years ago during Pride.
as a swedish person its so fun too see pepole react to swedish TV
SVT ie Sveriges Television (Sweden's television) is Pubic Service Media. It's funded by the public with a fee that is linked to your tax. So I guess it's pretty similar to BBC.
Yes
I've seen Grotesco live once. It was really good and well put together. :) Their satire is amazing and always so refreshing to see. Especially in these times when everything has to be so politically correct all the time.
Swedes love British humor. Yes SVT is our BBC. It stands for Sveriges Television (Sweden's Televison).
I like that you picked up on the humour being directed towards fundamentalists =) alot of people did not in Sweden when this was aired.
I mean, I was a teen in fundie church in Sweden back then and we all got it. Not everyone liked it (I personally enjoyed the humor and the highlighting of what an absurd thing to focus on) bur pretty sure most people got it.
I mean, everyone got the message and the point, not everyone liking it is another question.
@@Razzlion don't think the people who made complaints to the network and policereports for hate speech against hay people got it...
No one: -
Sweden: yes, the world needs it.
Whats funny is we still play this both ironically and "literally" in a sence today. Political party's and or groups related to LGBTQI stances (especially political youth parties, trust me im vice-chairman in Stockholm city for one of these parties. We play it all the time IN PUBLIC... On speakers) will play this very commonly as a stance against homophobia and anti-LGBTQI. "De är böggarnas fel" is still a very well known joke and pretty much everyone even the kids will usually understand the reference.
Fair observation about the similarities between British and Swedish humour :) It's absolutely correct. Very dry, underdog perspective, silly, slightly surreal from time to time... A lot of Swedes love Little Britain!
To be fair, the Eurovision line was probably true…
Yeah, and i think it makes the song better cuz its one single stray line thats lowkey true in a sea of absurd takes
Yes SVT is our BBC, exactly like that. and where you paused in the end, let me translate, "SVT humor, approved by the goverment" haha
As a queer norwegian, this is so extremely funny!
In the end, on the SVT frame (which is Swedish Television, financed by taxes) it says "Approved by the government". Just a final but funny touch.
This sketch was actually inspired by a Swedish comedy duo from the 60s: Tage Danielsson and Hasse Alfredson - the latter being the father of Tomas Alfredson the director of the Swedish vampire movie “Let the right one in”. Those two made a gospel parody sketch called “Hur ska det gå med min syndiga kropp?” or “What will happen to my sinful body?” for their show “Konstgjorda Pompe.” 😊 The joke was about everything fun being dangerous - food, alcohol, sex, entertainment - and while the lyrics are all different from “Bögarnas fel” the music, the choreography and the way the lyrics are presented are SPOT ON!
Yes SVT is basically our version of BBC, a state funded television broadcast network.
The guy who took up Eurovision is actually a really big comedian from Sweden
In the end "credits" the middle line says "approved by the Swedish government".
Because svt is our "bbc" so indirectly its a part of the state.
You should react to "Swedishness ". A sketch about how swedes are, with a English speaker.😅
One of the best humor groups in Sweden. And most people actually get it
I never seen this in Sweden but I'm not surprised that this comedy group did this.
I’m Swedish and I remember my dad showed me this before I was fully able to understand that this was a joke, thought it was super homophobic lol
Not really since the definition of Phobic/phobia is when u have a fear for things or when ur uncomftorable
@@Oliver_El_Timido yeah but in the context of the word "homophobia" "phobia" does not mean fear, even thought that is what phobia normally means.
@@Oliver_El_TimidoCan also mean repulsion, which is accurate to the meaning of homophobia
@@MR_Foffeyep! Like hydrophobic material. Not literally water scared. Just resistant!
I had the same experience
I love how it says aproved by the state at the end
We take our humour very serious in Sweden, there's nothing really off limits.
And as others have mentioned, British comedy is huge in Sweden(I cite Life of Brian to this day)
That frame in the end, it is so funny that you actually see that ;)
Yes SVT is like our BBC. Very much based on the BBC model actually. And the tagline below translates as "approved by the state"
Great reaction! Thank you! And at the end under SVT (our BBC) HUMOR it says on the white fancy banner: Approved by the state. Godkänd av staten. Hehe
Yes a really fun classic😂 Two other very popular humour-clips/videos;
”Grotesco Tingeliin (Tingeling russian base-lovers remix) Melodifestivalen 2009 SVT”. Its a parody about Russia, it was the paus number in the Swedish "Melodifestivalen" 2009. You dont need subtitles for this one as most of it is in "pretend-russian".
Henrik Dorsin - "Tomten är en kommunist" ("Santa is a communist"☺️). There should be one with english subtitles.
I love reverend Dorsin, but even more the sister :-)
I love it how the host is totally like "who are these loonies" at first, but then towards the end it all starts to make sense to even her and she joins in with all of her heart :D
Everyone in Sweden understands that this is satire showcasing exactly how absurd homophobia actually is.
Something similar could definitely have been made today in Sweden, but of course it would have had to touch on contemporary issues, like trans people rather than gays, the war in Ukraine rather than the War on Terror, and Tesla's attempt to crush Swedish unions rather than lamenting that some companies are no longer Swedish.
About Eurovision Song Contest? The Swedish qualifyer takes place over 6 weeks! _That_ is what they actually allude to here, not the three events over less than a week that is the international contest. (They sing "Schlagerfestivalen", which can mean either the Swedish part of the contest, the international part, or both.)
The kind of Christians parodied here are American-style Evangelicals rather than Catholics, by the way. Not that the Catholic Church isn't against same-sex relationships, but at least it doesn't blame gays for the very existence of all evil.
They performed this song on one of the biggest live TV-shows in Sweden (Allsång på Skansen) during pride week and it was fantastic. All I could find now is a 60 sec video on facebook so I guess it's been removed.
SVT literally shorted translated to Swedish television.
Yes, SVT is also public media like the BBC. Fun fact, their slogan "godkänd av staten" means "approved by the state" as a mick at it being publically funded , as some people always seems to have a problem with public media outlets posting things other than just news.
The translators def took liberties with the translation though 😆
And yeah, SVT is the equivalent of BBC, lit short for Swedish Television.
English and Swedish humour is, or rather was really compatible. Ofc it has all gone to shit for both countries.
You mentioned Little Britain, pure genius that show :) Also Mitchell&Webb, Armstrong&Miller (esp check out there ww2 pilot sketches)
It was not considered risky. Back when this was made, people still practiced humor.
You have opened a jar of faboulus worms. There is alot in grotesco, kvarteret skata, hip hipp. And more from sweden ❤
Really good humour almost always has a serious undertone
Satirical, dark humor with the glimpse of an eye in there obviously.
Yes this video is in some senses typical swedish, to some swedes VERY swedish.
Grotesco at it's finest from early twothousands I think.
Actually they made fun of a few swedish decades with choice of clothes and hair styles, to me quite good visual parody too.
😆
I sat here with a shit-eating grin just waiting for Dwayne's reactions for the different parts of this video 😆
Yes, SVT = Sveriges Television ~ BBC.
( Denmark: DR, Norway: NRK )
We admire British humour very much over here in Scandinavia, so we are often inspired by it.
We often laugh at the same things as you do in Britain, watch many of your TV comedies, and we use a lot of irony, sarcasm and dark humour as well - although sometimes you really need to explain it to the poor Swedes more carefully 😂 ( Dane here 😉 ).
And Germans typically don't get irony, sarcasm and dark humour at all 😉 - as a certain Basil Fawlty so correctly pointed out. 😂
I remember this one from over ten years ago. It's fucking hilarious. Damn, Swedish humour is fun sometimes 😅
I saw Grotesco live a couple of years ago and I’ve never laught so hard! This song was one of the highlights
😂😂😂😂 ha en underbar dag Mvh Stefan i Sweden 🎉🎉
honestly i go back and listen to this atleast 3 times a year and i'm lgbtq+ i dont find it insensetive at all its satirical humour at its best
this song is a staple in sweden and it's really funny to see homophobes use it as if the song isn't joing about homophobes
It is a satire on one of the free religious churches in Sweden. One of which is a church in Uppsala.....
I love that skit, it's how humor should be. I think Louis CK pretty much hit that spot, I like the one where Louis CK learns about the Catholic Church
SVT stands for Sveriges television (Swedish television)
Yes, SVT is essentially our version of the BBC, glad you found our humor funny.
You should see another one they've done which was an interlude in the melody festival (the competition before Eurovision to vote for who will represent Sweden) about 14 years ago. Everyone who saw it was disappointed that they couldn't vote for that song. Know that there was also a lot of political wrangling with Russia after that, they got ridiculously upset.
czcams.com/video/e1ozCWyUlCg/video.html&ab_channel=SVT
And yes SVT is like your BBC.
I will check it out next, thanks for the suggestion. I need to check out the Melody Festival. When is it next on TV?
"Mello" starts februari 2nd and keeps going week after week after week ad infinitum 😂
Funny you mention "Little Britain"😂 they showed it on Swedish TV too. It was quite hillarius.
Thanks for a great reaction, Cheers from Sweden ❤
as a lgbtq swede, i go around singing this all the time
Grotesco is one of the all time greats, in Sweden especially, but anywhere. I love Monty Python and some of these guys sketches are on par :).
Check out their "Ett kilo mjöl" and "Riddarna".
Yes SVT is like the BBC, in fact it was originally specifically modelled after the BBC with the same idea of politically independent funding guaranteed by a TV license fee.
SVT also has the same issue of political "independence" the BBC does as lampshaded in the UK Comedy great Yes Minister(which is and always will be the greatest political satire show in history XD).
Great fun, just like a lot of British humour. Really loved that show "little Britain" and from older days "not the nine o'clock news". Hilarious fun.
In an interview, they told that they got a lot of different opinions over this song. It is ment as satire, but not everyone understood it. Some said "you can't say or think that", others were like "yeah, that will show those gays".
This is still one of the most popular humor songs in Sweden and is generally connected with the LGBTQ movement so yes, you would be able to do it today
Grotesco is absolutely top class.
SVT is your BBC (state owned TV) and is short for Sveriges Television (Sweden Television).
And, of course you could do this song now, in 2024. Nothing controversial about it.
There is a swedish movie made for TV in the late 70;s that I would love to see you react to. It´s called "Vi hade i alla fall tur med vädret" (At least we were lucky with the weather). It´s about a swedish family on vacation with their mobile home. Almost evrything in it has happened in reality but not all of it to the same family. I´ve heard it was broadcasted in the UK back in the days when it was new and british people liked it a lot. I think british and swedish humor is very much alike. We also love Mr Bean, for instance. Hopefully the fiiln is available with english subtitles. I can almost promise that you would laugh yout lips off.
This was fun!
In little Britain there was at least only room for one gay in that village!
You mentioned Little Britain. It's been so long since I saw Anne imitate Celine Dion and wish merry Christmas by writing on a wall...
I love this song! I'm from Sweden, and also bi and most queer folks love this song too. It's kind of annoying tho when you see people posting it with a caption like "I miss when we could joke like this" because it's still being played at pride events and stuff like that.
I'm only 19 but I grew up watching Little Britain as a kid, and yeah, it definitely influenced my humor lmao
yes SVT is definetly like BBC as its swedens main news channel on the tv
Amazingly inaccurate translation though. 5:29: text says "Every crisis", but the song says "every historic schism" It is like he did a reverse abuse of thesaurus and just dumbed down the translation, watering down a lot of the meaning.
SVT humor approved by the state. The last frame of the clip :)
You should take a look at Grotescos ” planning Hitlers bachelor party”.
Nah like the funniest thing is that there's been a remix of the song for like 2023.
@Dwayne'sView Yes, SVT (Sveriges television = Swedish Television) is like BBC. :-)
It's so over the top that Nobody can possibly get mad at this!😂
It's a Banger!😂👍
The LGBTQ+ community absolutely loves the song! I've been to three pride parades and I hear it like 4 times every parade and it's always from inside the parade!! This is the swedish LGBTQ+ theme song for sure.
7:36 Mr. Gardell himself.
Don't miss the last frame:
"SVT* Humour
Approved by the Government"
Irony in the details.
* Public Service
Oh i miss this comedy..... Sad world we can't joke... Not anti-gay at all...but this shit is FUN. :)
I bringed a really good speaker to school and played this middle of class
