Shakey has so much good CZcams content. I wish he were more popular, he just doesn't have a dominant presence with spotify and apple music and stuff like that. Such a good live performer

Go, go Nova Scotia. A lot of this folk-driven indie music takes root in NS, even if it's from afar. It's a place with a long history of folk artists and good music.

Going to see Shakey tomorrow in concert. Second time. I cross my fingers it's mostly these old goodies!
I wish he still played like this and not so bluesy as he is now. That's not to say I don't like the blues, or his current style/sound... but this, the hand claps, dual vocal tracks, he just had a much more unique sound back then with this record. I love it. We need more ham bone/hand claps in music.
You guys gotta check out his live sessions he did with Audiotree... They are really great.

I listened to Audiotree sessions first so it's actually difficult to listen to the album. There's so much passion and energy in his live versions.

I cannot wait to see him at Newport in July. Last year my Newport crush was Shovels and Rope...this year it's Shakey Graves.
I think his song Dearly Departed with Esme sounds a lot like Shovels & Rope. Dream show would be both of them on the same stage :)
Sailin Shoes I DID see them on the same stage...Shakey opened up for Shovels & Rope at Prospect Park Bandshell in June. They didn't actually play together, but I saw them back to back, with some Valerie June sprinkled in just for good measure. It was awesome!
Just found this album, I'm in love! I've only heard the more rockin versions of roll the bones and built to roam (which I think are great), but I put this on trying to catch a nap while on a long road trip- knocked my socks off! Had to stay away to listen to the whole thing :)

Been my favorite album since it came out. I lost my iPod that I had it downloaded on and now all I have is Spotify and the stuff on there just doesn't live up to his old stuff. But I like having to use this video, it forces me to listen to the album all the way through. I'm about to start a bit of a road trip and this, Story of My Life, and Donor Blues are ready to go.
