#Moncestino

La strada verso Gabiano attraversa il territorio di Moncestino. Il centro abitato è sul crinale della collina che a tratti presenta pareti scoscese, calanchi. Quando fu fondato il borgo franco di Moncestino, da questa posizione molto panoramica sicuramente il paesaggio si presentava diverso: il Po era più lontano dalla collina, le risaie non esistevano ancora, la foresta era ancora molto estesa, radure, zone paludose erano interrotte solo dagli altri borghi franchi: Crescentino, Fontanetto, Palazzolo… si intravedevano le abbazie di San Genuario e di Lucedio, circondate da piccole aree coltivate.
Moncestino è compreso nei Sentieri della libertà.
The road towards Gabiano crosses the territory of Moncestino. The inhabited center is on the crest of the hill which at times has steep walls and gullies. When the Frankish village of Moncestino was founded, from this very panoramic position the landscape certainly appeared different: the Po was further from the hill, the rice fields did not yet exist, the forest was still very extensive, clearings and marshy areas were interrupted only by other Frankish villages: Crescentino, Fontanetto, Palazzolo... you could glimpse the abbeys of San Genuario and Lucedio, surrounded by small cultivated areas.
Moncestino is included in the Paths of Freedom.
