How to fix Xiaoyi "This Camera can only be used within China" English instructions

- Steps to fix it.
1. Turn on the camera and hold down the reset button for 6-8 seconds
2. Turn off the camera
3. Insert the memory card
4. Turn on the camera and wait for about 5 minutes
(will flash orange, then turn orange, then speak Chinese and then will flash orange)
5. Connect the camera via the camera app
Memory card
1. format the sd in FAT32
2. extract and copy the firmware file (a file called 'home') to the memory card root folder
Firmware used in this example 1.8.5.1K_201508311131 (Download at xiaoyi.querex.be/1.8.5.1K_2015...)
If your camera is unable to be flashed to 1.8.5.1K, you might need to flash to an older version and flash it back up to the last available working version. (so you will need to flash it twice)
Download and flash the two firmwares in the following order.

When pairing with your WiFi, please do not connect to a 5GHz WiFi Band as older versions of the camera does not support it. You will get a password error message when you try to connect to 5GHz Band - Jak na to + styl

I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. I am thinking seriously about adding another camera or two to my 3 camera system. The price is lower than a lot of comparable systems.

I did all my camera back to life but in Yi Home App (iphone) don't let me use the app and wants me to download China version which it is only chine appstore. How do you use it?
Thanks for ur support. I had a Chinese version and it was working in middle east. When I moved recently to Canada it didn't work. Then I followed ur steps and flashed the international version which in English, it helped in setting up. Every step is going well except for the last step when retrieving the camera status fails. hi. i've followed your instructions. I tried flashing the oldest version first, but it flashed the yellow light, twice the speed of the usual blinking. would you by any chance have an alternative link to that version?

what version of MI Home are you using? Im using the one from the market choosing China Mainland as server and it starts connecting but then connection times out every time...

managed to get the xiao yi caemera 1st gen with night vision to work. bought the dome camera(newest) any idea where to get the firmware for it to work? international version is 2x more ex than cn one

Hi I was able to connect camera to WiFi (solid blue and see the camera in dhcp client list on the router) but pairing continues fail. I cannot reset from the back either not sure if the reset button is broken
After extract the zip file, Need to copy ONLY home file. do not copy the whole folder into SD card. thanks for the video now my camera working.
after u copy the file need to reset again like when u wanna setup for the first time. be sure to reset (the small button) and wait until yellow lef blink.
is it work for Yi Dome 1080P? I did your tutorial but it still in Mandarin and not looks like changed firmware

I upload the firmware and changed from chinese version to english version, now it read the Qr code and connect to the wifi but the myhome or yicam aps dont reconigze the cam, i mean, looks like everything is alright the cam is with the blue light on but i cant connect the camera, what can i do? thank you
I tried to flash the 1.8.5.1B, but it doesnt help. The amber light blink for a mere 1 second (at step 4) and it stopped. Understand that i might be flashing the firmware wrongly. How else should I flash it then?
Hi Mo, I was able to pair it succesfully after downgrading firmware. Now encountering the message: "the camera is offline, please reconnect it (-3006)". Any idea why this is happening?

Hi sir, i have tried to flash the xiao yi camera several times following your instructions but the problem still persist. I think the problem is the flashing process. As you mentioned in your video after putting in the SD card with the home file then power on it should takes few minutes for the flashing process and the light would blink. However mine only takes few seconds and it will prompt its ready. After the prompt msg i proceed with the linking up and all but in the end it still won't work repeating "this camera may not be used within China.
Anything i did wrong here?? i formatted the sd card to FAT32 and copy the file downloaded form your link. Can you help me with this?? Thanks alot

What type memory card did u use.. N why i just can record only when motion is detected.. Cannot full record..
Yes, tested. Need to flash the firmware 2x i.e. to 1.8.5.1B first, then redo to flash the firmware to 1.8.5.1K. And it is working now as long as we DO NOT upgrade to the latest firmware. Thanks.

Hi, I have this camera in chinese version (I'm in Europe). It keeps asking me to upgrade camera firmware from 1.8.5.1L_201510301024 to 1.8.7.0C_201705091058. I tried few times but without success. Process stops at "downloading" and no matter how long I wait it does not finish...

1. the app is all in chinese language, and i can't read chinese

What happens is when I reset the camera and turn it back on, the yellow Amber light flashes rapidly, it picks up the wifi password through the app, it scans the WR code, the camera light then goes into flashing blue, then solid blue, and about 35-45 percent through the install it gives the prompt. Which files should be on the card? The zip file or just extract home file and copy that only on the sd card? Thanks

I have tried all the 5K, 5B and 5L. All doesn't help. Any more suggestion. Anyway, I tried another video suggesting 5B and 6B and also doesn't work.

Hi Mo, how do I know did I had successfully flash it back to 1.8.5.1B?? Cos when I turn it on after putting the sd card in, mine camera did not flash orange.. It straight away turn orange, then speak Chinese then flash orange. The camera still said cannot work outside china even I manage to set it up, so I suspect it didn't even flash to 1.8.5.1B

The region in the mi home app must be in Chinese mainland? Can we use different country? My yi camera can use but I have 2 version of region which I need to always sign out and sign in again to view different region. How can I change this Xiao Yi to Malaysia region?

Do i need to register a China Account to use this? I had tried all the firmware update and i can get to the final step. When it reach 90% loading, it says Poor wifi connection or wrong password. I had tried many times to reconnect and keep getting the same problem

I tried downloading Mi Home app on iOS (in US app store) but there's only a few devices it supports and not the Yi Camera. Apple won't let me switch to Chinese region to download a Chinese app because I have Apple Music subscription.
