Nice interesting video on the poly and Monoembryonic types of mango. I found out a couple of years ago that there was such a thing as polyembryonic mangos when i planted a Bangladeshi mango called Fazli. Ive got a 1 month old Fazli growing now 🥭 🌱
I also heard from grafters you can take the monoembryonic seedling's young bud wood and graft it onto established fruiting trees to shorten the wait time. And the wait time in fruiting is reduced similarly to the wait time for polyembryonic types.
You can graft the monoembryo into a mature tree and get fruit in a year, I knew it from my experience/experiments. So you will find out earlier if to keep or not to keep.
Amazing video ! So I have a monoembryonic seedling I been working on one day left it out in the sun too long leaves burnt decided to cut the leaves couple days later more than 10 shoots pop out anyone knows what’s this called did this mono just turned poly ?
From my understanding, a mono cannot convert to poly. I had a Carrie seed that is mono and it shot up to separate plants but it came from one seed that does happen.
It’s call growing more branches..any tree you cut it grows out multiple directions of branches it’s something like grafting when you cut a branch from a tree clip the leaves off and when it starts to grow back it branches out different places
@@876Plug They said they cut the leaves not a branch. Removing leaves will not cause the tree to branch out. It sounds like they were talking about shoots coming from the root.
@@themangovista ah I see what you saying.. it was probably not mono in the first place..I’m currently growing 9 different mango trees in groups of 3 and 3 of the plants have multiple trees growing out 1 seed so I’m a of to separate them and replant them, it’s why I ended up on this video.
A little misleading for a beginner the polyembyonic doesn’t have five separate seeds within the husk. It looks like one seed but on close examination you can see the different seeds. Of your five sprouts the smallest is the fertilized one and should be culled. The remaining four do not have to be grafted and will produce the fruit the seeds came from. The mono after many years will produce but you can’t be certain of what you’ll get. The mono in my opinion would be the one to graft using Scion of the desired mango you want. Not trying to be a wise arse but hopefully adding some clarity to your awesome video. Good luck!🙏🙏🙏

@@themangovista to me and I believe a beginner is going to find five separate seeds we they open the husk. They’re going to find a single pod made up of many seeds.😩🙏
@@1cleandude lol you are making a mistake. The husk is the pod when we are talking about mangoes. What you were trying to say is that you believe someone is going to open the pod/husk and expect for five seeds to fall out like peanuts 🤣 that’s funny I didn’t think about that. I hope that the person watching a video on the difference between poly and mono mango seeds has done a little more research. Ok for the record poly seeds may look like one seed to the untrained eye lol but it’s not, it may have multiple seeds stuck to each other making it look like one seed. My recommendation Is to look up pictures of mono and Poly seeds to see the difference. I’ve made a video on how to separate the poly seeds once they grow. Is it true that if the mother tree can only produce one type of mango, either mango with mono embryonic or mango poly embryonic? Can one tree produce both types of mangoes, some with mono embryonic seeds and some with poly embryonic seeds?
From what I’ve seen so far the mother tree will only produce one type of seed poly or mono but I have seen a Carrie Mango which is mono produce several plants out of one seed which would make it look poly but it’s not.
I’ve read that it can be the tallest one out of the bunch but I cannot confirm that. I’ve never grown one out I prefer to graft it to get the exact match.
