    hi there wanted to know the differnce between simultaneous equations and linear also so you used 2 different methods with the sums first you multiplied by a factor then add for the first two sums and the third sum you added then multiplied by a factor can you explain this for me please

  • @gabriellewilliams4182

    thanks this helped

    For the last question couldn’t I just times equation 2 by 3 giving me -3y or can I only times by 2, also ty for the vids they’re really helping

    For - 4Y + 15 Y how did you get 19? Why isn't it 11? When I go on the number line and go at -4 and add 15 I am getting 11.

    Is it a problem if you use any equation for the elimination part ??

    When do I use the last Elimination method you've shown? (Where multiplication is done to each equation?)

    • @CSECMathematics
      @CSECMathematics  Před 6 lety +1

      Usually they will tell you which method to use (elimination or substitution). If they don't tell you then choose the one that you are most comfortable with.

    what determines whether you eliminate X or Y, use equation one or two and why is it -4y + (-15y) ? The 15 has a plus sign in front of it so should'nt it be 11, not nineteen? (14:00 to 14:14) Also why is the eight not moved across to be added to the two? (June 1992)

    • @CSECMathematics
      @CSECMathematics  Před 6 lety +1

      You can eliminate either x or y. It doesn't matter.
      It's -4y - (15y) = -19y.
      Also, you could have done the following instead. I just prefer making my solution cleaner
      8 - 4y = 2
      - 4y = 2 - 8
      -4y = -6
      y= -6/-4
      y = 3/2
