    WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

I miss John, he seemed like a genuinely good dude. One of my favorites, that was rarely in front of the camera; usually behind the scenes

      Agreed.
An atheist that never believed and an ex-southern baptist, good contrast.

Chris from East Bay is a really good example of how catholicism makes you stupid. I was raised catholic and I can remember before waking up and getting out just how fucking idiotic my thinking was at the time.

first prove there is a God... after God has been demonstrated, show convincing evidence that God intervenes when car keys are lost

    • @Ben-Rogue
      @Ben-Rogue Před 3 lety

This type of "God helped me find my car keys" proof has always been painfully stupid in my opinion. So you're looking for your car keys and you pray to God and eventually find your car keys. What actually made you find the keys; the praying or the looking for them? And even if you gave up looking, there is only so many places your keys could have been, and they're likely somewhere you happen to be fairly regularly, you're probably going to find them pretty soon anyway.
It's like praying that God will help you get to work safely in the morning. Did God get you there safe or did your driving carefully get you there? It'd be more convincing if all you did was put your foot to the floor and close your eyes and somehow the car followed the road perfectly, avoiding all obstacles only to stop in your regular parking space. It seems the standards for "proof" is pretty low for most people

Interesting that Chris adamantly states that he doesn't want to talk about religion but claims that his morality is due to his Catholic upbringing. huh?

"Can you give me a 'nonononono you're done'?"
Matt: "Nonononono, you're done!" **hangs up**
That's exactly what I would have asked for 😁 iconic.

    Hi. I'm Chris. I'm a free thinker. A Catholic free thinker. o-0
Re h pompous claim. Without Catholicism he couldn't have become the paragon of morality, etc that he is.
He defines morality by catholic doctrine. So yeah. If C didn't exist, he wouldn't be getting his morals from C.
...He'd be getting them from somewhere else.

You seem to look at what people have said (CZcams comments), then you add things other people said ((Voltaire quotes n stuff). I see same quotes pop up on multiple pages. You don't add thoughts of your own.

Regarding Jerry (Ann Arbor) and his friend's story of the weather changing... I have, on several occasions, been extremely cold with no immediate end in sight. During these times, I have often been able to simply "convince" myself that it was not that cold, and I'd stop shivering and become relatively comfortable. I used to attribute this to God, but now realize that is just plain stupid. The only other time I've been able to use this will power to get over something was with tickling. Through my early 20s, I was always extremely ticklish. I got married and my wife liked to mess with me by tickling me. Once, I applied the same tactic, and my ticklishness disappeared. It's gone! Again, I used to attribute this to God's intervention, but no longer believe in a god. So, this tells me that the power of our minds over our bodies CAN be very powerful. I don't claim to understand it, but this explains my situations and the anecdotal experiences of others that they "couldn't explain" and attributed to gods.
Anyways, not sure why I decided to post this. Perhaps it will benefit someone. LOL

@Kellen Nebelski As comedian Bob Nelson said, "The mind is a terrible thing." I usually pick a hot day each summer to read Jack London's "To Build a Fire." It always makes me shiver, even if it's 100 degrees outside.

Muslims, and Hindu's and Atheists can all grow up to be morally good and honourable people.
And NONE of them required Jesus or the bible to get there.
