I've looked at everything I can find and your advice has been the most useful. Learning to relax in the proper position took me from struggling for speed and accuracy to an easy 30 BPM increase in 2 days. Thank you!

Great stuff. There’s a guy named Bruce Arnold who has also done this kind of work.

Great advice. Muting with your fingering hand rather than your palm. Great lesson. Thanks J.D.

Amazing lesson! Ben! I have to tell you, after watching your last wrist "twitch" video, I spent the rest of my free time playing last night, and I've hit runs I've never been able to before so cleanly and stress free. Fantastic.
I can't wait to see your video on strumming, if you get around to it!

It’s a Munson Guitars new model I prototyped with them. They make killer stuff!

Good advice but there's more that makes peoples little finger fly around.
Thumb position and not holding the fingers perpendicular to the frets.

I would contest both of these personally - it’s sort of the same thing. Bad thumb position can be explained as ‘doing something uncomfortable with the thumb’, and it is physiologically determined. The size of the hand and length of the fingers are entirely responsible to what feels relaxed and controlled for a lot of people - Guthrie Govan is a great example of this as he has giant hands and his thumb ends up in Uganda a lot of the time with no detrimental effect on his playing.
Again, perpendicular to the fretboard tends to be more optimal for smaller hands than for larger. Looking at the difference between Shawn Lane and Guthrie is a good comparison as they are both incredible players but have very different fretting hand techniques.

You can have a comfortable thumb which points towards the nut, it's actually a very comfortable position but detremental to being able to free up the fingers to play quick phrases.
It also inhibits pivoting on the thumb which is also very important.
Each to their own but personally I would follow my advice over yours every day. @@Kerriben
