43 Commando Wallasey

  • On Sunday 27th April 2014, Her Majesties Royal Marines 43 Commando and the Local Royal Marines Reserve together with the Royal Marines Veterans and Cadets, marched from Seacombe Ferry to Wallasey Town Hall led by the Royal Marines Band.
    The march followed a wreath laying ceremony at Seacombe Ferry Terminal, held in commemoration of the annual Zeebrugge remembrance service to honour acts of heroism.
    The raids at Zeebrugge, took place on the April 23 1918; in order to block a Channel outlet which was being used by the German navy U-boats and destroyers.
    During the raid, 200 medals, including eight Victoria Crosses, were awarded for gallantry.
